Evana Automation Ships Custom, 24-Station Assembly and Test System to a Leading Tier 1 Auto Supplier

Evana's lean, semi-automated solution incorporates quality and flexibility into the production of two different power transfer units

EVANSVILLE, Ind., July 22, 2014 - Evana Automation Specialists, a leading Systems Integrator and builder of custom, automated assembly and test systems, recently shipped a lean, 24-station assembly and test system to a leading Tier 1 automotive supplier of driveline and drivetrain systems.

The flexible, semi-automated solution will assemble and test two different automobile power transfer units with 100% traceability of key assembly and test data. Each station operates independently, but is synched to the master database via bar codes so that non-conforming assemblies are not allowed to pass. Assembly steps include bearing and seal presses, drive and fastener installation, snap ring installations, shim selection and verification, oil fill, leak test, run-in, as well as noise/vibration/harmonics testing.

"This innovative system provides a flexible, low-cost solution for producing quality PTU products," said Randy Wire, general manager of Evana Automation Specialists. "Two different models, with major variants, will be built on this line with virtually no changeover."
