Intelligrated Releases Robotics White Paper at PACK EXPO 2011 Las Vegas

PLC-Based Robotic Controls Versus OEM Robotic Controls

Intelligrated, a leading North American-owned automated material handling solutions provider, will showcase its newest robotics solutions at PACK EXPO Las Vegas 2011 on September 26-28. Building on this theme, the company will also release a new white paper on robotic solutions and their application in material handling: "PLC-Based Robotic Controls Versus OEM Robotic Controls - What's the Best Choice for your Application?"

As more manufacturing facilities and distribution centers discover the benefits of robotic material handling solutions, they must also decide how to control their robots. The new white paper explores the differences between the Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) based robotic control systems, and guides decision makers through different applications. Robotic system integrators, such as Intelligrated, work with customers to ensure that the final solution provides the optimal fit-whether it is PLC- or OEM -based controls.

"Intelligrated is excited to join industry leaders at this year's PACK EXPO, and to showcase our integrated robotic solutions and expertise," said Steve Ackerman, executive vice president, Intelligrated. "Companies are increasingly looking to automate processes to avoid downtime and gain efficiencies, and our robotic solutions allow customers to deploy systems that seamlessly integrate with other equipment. We hope that our newest white paper, along with the booth demonstrations, will help customers make the best possible decision to meet their unique needs."

The Intelligrated booth (#3611) will feature two robotic arms operating on a single PLC-based control system performing robotic case unpacking and case packing of bottles. It will also showcase a third robotic arm operating on proprietary robotic controls demonstrating case palletizing. The exhibit will be of particular interest to companies looking to integrate robotics into existing fill lines, including wineries, distilleries and breweries.

Schmalz Technology Development - The Right Gripper for Every Task

In order to interact with their environment and perform the tasks, lightweight robots, like all industrial robots, depend on tools - and in many cases these are vacuum grippers. These form the interface to the workpiece and are therefore a decisive part of the overall system. With their help, the robots can pick up, move, position, process, sort, stack and deposit a wide variety of goods and components. Vacuum gripping systems allow particularly gentle handling of workpieces, a compact and space-saving system design and gripping from above. Precisely because the object does not have to be gripped, the vacuum suction cupenables gapless positioning next to each other.
