Many non-contact measurement applications in machine vision require different optical magnifications for checking various levels of details on geometrically complex parts. One one hand, fixed magnification telecentric lenses are an excellent choice for measurement applications but may not be flexible enough to inspect features of very different sizes on the same sample. On the other hand, if you need to accurately measure similar objects of multiple sizes (i.e. a set of screws), you may have to use two or more fixed lenses to get the best image for each format or use a standard zoom lens, which however offers modest results in terms of accuracy and repeatability.
TCZR Series are 8X Bi-telecentric Zoom lenses with motorized control and are the leading edge optical solution for imaging and measurement applications requiring both the flexibility of zoom lenses and the accuracy of fixed optics. Thanks to a special revolving system, TCZR036 and TCZR072 provide 4 different magnifications while working at the same working distance and at the same fixed working f-number.
This innovative opto-mechanical design offers many key advantages.
Firstly, these lenses ensure that magnification and image centering remain exactly the same for each setting, thus avoiding recalibration at any given time. Classic zooms integrate a dragging mechanism which does not permit to have the same exact magnification when you get back to the original setting, thus limiting the system's repeatability.
Secondly, TCZR lenses are perfectly parfocal: there is no need to refocus the lens when changing magnification since the optical revolving system maintains the focus over the entire magnification range.
Moreover, bi-telecentricity, high resolution and low distortion make these zooms able to perform the same measurement tasks as fixed magnification bi-telecentric lenses.
The TCZR Series is compatible with C-mount cameras up to 2/3" and offers 4 different magnifications, featuring a total zoom range of 8x. The TCZR036 offers the following 4 mags: 0.250x, 0.500x, 1.000x, 2.000x while the TCZR072 features 0.125x, 0.250x, 0.500x, 1.000x mags. Each magnification step can be selected either by means of the onboard control keyboard or via computer through a specific remote control software. When the motorized revolving system operates in "stand alone" mode, you can change magnification by simply pressing the blue button until you reach the desired setting. When the device works in "online" mode, magnification can be changed through the DLL software that comes in the box. This enables you to control several parameters for optimal image acquisition and processing, adjust the working settings (position, speed,…) and also query the device to check correct operation.
TCZR lenses can be mounted vertically or horizontally by means of the specific CMHOTCZR precision clamp. You can also couple the TCZR Series with Opto Engineering's collimated LED illuminators, ring illuminators and rear mount filters to build extremely accurate measurement and inspection systems.
