Diversified Machine Systems, a leading US-based 3 & 5-axis CNC machine center designer and manufacturer in Colorado Springs, CO, announces Fagor Automation's new release of the 8065 CNC Controller with the new Adaptive Real-Time Feed & Speed Control (ARFS) feature.
Developed as a primary key to maximum machine tool performance, Fagor developed the feature called Adaptive Real-Time Feed & Speed control (ARFS) in which the CNC Controller analyzes the machining conditions such as Spindle Load, Servo Power, and Tool Tip Temperature, and automatically adapts both the axis feed rate and the spindle speed for maximum machining performance.
Fagor Automation's Marketing Manager, Todd Drane explains that "Fagor initially saw a need for this feature in Production Environments simply because it allowed us to knock precious seconds off cycle times, while also increasing valuable tool life. However, our customers are quickly finding additional Machine Tool benefits. In simplicity, the ARFS feature is easier on the machine axes of motion, particularly the Spindle."
Drane continues that one user with a heavy duty application is getting longer Spindle Bearing life since utilizing ARFS technology. In addition, customers are learning from the QC Department that part tolerances are coming in tighter.
The Fagor 8065 CNC Controller ARFS feature is closely connected with the HSSA (High Speed Surface Accuracy) which utilizes polynomial (Splines), which assists in smoothing the programmed data points while analyzing the tool path in advance, allowing for easier machine direction changes and program starts and stops.
By utilizing this feature, the mechanical stress on the machine is reduced, thus additional tool life is achieved as well as a higher machine endurance that requires less maintenance and downtime. Some users are finding faster feed rates are possible due to these advantages.
The On-Board Bode Diagram Tool allows for the measurement of the machines frequency response, thus allowing the possibility to actually filter the machine vibrations incurred by the various operating conditions and environment.
