Spectra-Physics® Launches 15 W UV Laser at Laser World of Photonics China

• New Talon™ 355-15 delivers >300 mJ, 15 W UV power with unparalleled reliability and cost

Santa Clara, CA - March 17, 2014 - Spectra-Physics®, a Newport company, introduces Talon 355-15, a new addition to its Talon family of disruptive cost-performance Q-switched diode-pumped solid-state (DPSS) lasers. The new laser delivers >15 W UV power, >300 µJ pulse energy, wide-repetition-rate range of 0 to 500 kHz, and excellent beam profile and stability. With high reliability, lowest cost-of-ownership and excellent performance, Talon 355-15 is perfect for powering 24/7 manufacturing of PCBs, semiconductors, LEDs, ceramics, flat panel displays, solar cells, glass, and many other devices and materials.

"With Talon 355-15, Spectra-Physics, the number one supplier of UV lasers, once again advances the capability of UV lasers for demanding micromachining applications," says Scott White, senior manager, product marketing for Spectra-Physics. "With its enabling cost-performance, Talon is compelling for a wide range of applications, and we are experiencing incredible demand as we rapidly ramp volume production."

Available in >15, >12 and >6 W UV and >20 W green versions, Talon is an "It's in the Box™" laser, combining power supply and laser head into a single, common rugged package for simple system integration and easy intermixing between models to achieve specific end customer requirements. Talon has passed extensive environmental qualification testing, and each laser is subjected to rigorous production tests to ensure high reliability for operation in 24/7 applications.

Spectra-Physics' new Talon 355-15 UV laser will be featured at Laser World of Photonics China in Shanghai, March 18-20, 2014. Please visit Spectra-Physics in hall E2, booth #2400 for a demonstration. For more information, visit www.spectra-physics.com/Talon.

The ERT150 - Dorner's Next Evolution of Edge Roller Technology Conveyors

The next evolution in Dorner's Edge Roller Technology conveyor platform, the ERT®150, is ideal for small and light-load assembly automation, as well as medical and medical-device assembly application. The ERT platform is the only pallet conveyor of its kind available with an ISO Standard Class 4 rating for cleanroom applications. Earning the ISO Standard 14644-1 Class 4 rating means Dorner's ERT150 will conform and not contribute to the contamination of cleanrooms to those standards. As implied by its name, the ERT150 (Edge Roller Technology) uses rollers to move pallets through the conveyor smoothly with no friction (a byproduct often seen in belt-driven platforms). The conveyor's open design eliminates concerns of small parts or screws dropping into rollers and causing conveyor damage or jamming. The ERT150 is suited to operate in cleanroom environments requiring a pallet handling conveyor. It is capable of zoning for no or low-back pressure accumulation and is ideal for automation assembly applications within industries including medical devices, electronics, consumer goods among others.
