- Worlds Smallest 3-Chip Video Camera

October 14, 2014 - Irvine, CA - Toshiba Imaging Systems Division, (www.toshibacameras.com), announces the IK-4K, UltraHD 4K, the worlds smallest 3-chip video camera with an unprecedented 8-megapixel, 3840 x 2160 pixel output. The versatile new camera delivers extraordinary detail with up to 1600 TV lines of resolution and switchable formats, from 4K at 50/59.94 Hz, to 1080p and 1080i. The improved sharpness and fine edge details when compared with 1080p systems is astonishing and has applications anywhere increased resolution is important. Even when operated in 1080p mode the resolution is improved over dedicated 1080p camera systems.

The ultra-compact (1.28" x 1.51" x 1.61") and lightweight (approx. 2.5 oz.) camera head can be easily integrated into new or existing imaging systems for applications such as scientific imaging, defense/military, process and quality control, live tissue imaging, and broadcast. The UltraHD 4K two-piece system design combines Toshibas proprietary prism block technology and advanced image processing capabilities to deliver unprecedented color accuracy and exceptional resolution with 12-channel color adjustment for optimal control. The 4x 3G/HD-SDI output offers maximum signal fidelity. Five user-configurable settings files are available to support various operating modes and ambient conditions.

The new camera incorporates Toshiba Imagings advanced 3-CMOS, 1/2.9-inch sensor technology with an image flip and mirror function, freeze frame, and gen-lock for 3D and multi-camera use. Other features include remote control via RS232 and a C-mount lens mount for added convenience and versatility.
