How Multiway Robotics Transformed a Malaysian Manufacturer's High-Bay Smart Warehouse with 5,000+ Storage Locations
Case Study from | Multiway Robotics
Summary
Multiway Robotics has successfully delivered an intelligent warehouse automation solution for a leading manufacturing enterprise in Malaysia, integrating autonomous forklifts with intelligent warehouse management systems to optimize material handling and warehouse operations.
Featuring 5,000+ storage locations, multi-model autonomous forklift collaboration, and 30%+ improvement in storage density, the solution enables efficient, scalable, and digitalized warehouse operations, supporting the customer's ongoing manufacturing growth and supply chain transformation.
Project Background
As global manufacturing supply chains continue to shift toward Southeast Asia, enterprises are accelerating warehouse automation and digital transformation to improve operational efficiency and supply chain resilience.
With the expansion of its production operations, a leading manufacturing enterprise in Malaysia faced increasing warehouse management challenges, including growing storage demands, diverse material categories, and frequent inbound and outbound activities.
The project covers more than 5,000 storage locations across multiple operational areas, including raw material storage, finished goods warehousing, material preparation zones, and quarantine areas. To support future business growth, the customer sought an intelligent warehouse solution that could maximize space utilization, optimize material flow, and improve inventory visibility.

Intelligent Automation Solution
To address the customer's automation requirements, Multiway Robotics developed a comprehensive intelligent logistics solution integrating autonomous forklifts with its proprietary Warehouse Management System (WMS) and Robot Control System (RCS).
The solution enables automated operations across the entire warehouse workflow, including:
- Raw material inbound and outbound operations
- Finished goods storage and shipment
- Material preparation and internal transportation
- Defective product return processes
- Autonomous Forklift Fleet for Multi-Scenario Operations
The project deploys three autonomous forklift models working collaboratively:
MW-K16 Autonomous VNA Truck Forklift
Designed for high-density storage environments, the MW-K16 operates in ultra-narrow aisles as narrow as 1,750 mm and supports lifting heights of up to 9 meters, enabling efficient high-level pallet storage and retrieval.

All autonomous forklifts support 24/7 continuous operation with automatic charging and multiple safety protection systems, including obstacle detection, anti-collision protection, emergency stop functions, and sound and light alarms.
Intelligent Software Platform for Digital Warehouse Management
Multiway Robotics' self-developed WMS Warehouse Management System and RCS Robot Control System provide intelligent coordination between warehouse operations and autonomous equipment.
The WMS enables real-time visualization of inventory, storage locations, and material status, while intelligently optimizing storage allocation and synchronizing data with enterprise systems such as ERP and UMS.
The RCS manages fleet coordination by monitoring robot status, optimizing routes dynamically, scheduling multi-robot operations, and managing automatic charging to ensure stable warehouse performance.
Through the integration of software and hardware, the solution achieves unified management of material flow, information flow, and data flow.
Project Results: Improving Storage Capacity and Operational Efficiency
The intelligent warehouse upgrade delivers significant improvements for the customer's manufacturing operations:
- 5,000+ intelligent storage locations managed digitally
- End-to-end automation across inbound, storage, handling, and outbound processes
- 30%+ increase in storage density
- Multi-model autonomous forklift collaboration for flexible operations
- Integrated management of logistics data and warehouse operations
The deployment helps the customer build a more efficient, transparent, and scalable warehouse system to support long-term manufacturing growth.
