Roboticom Installs 400th Robot Worldwide with SandRob System at Balanced Body

Milestone highlights how robotics can scale craftsmanship in high-end manufacturing where surface quality matters.

Roboticom, the robotics automation platform operated globally by Epica Applied Technologies in the United States and Fabrica Machinale internationally, has announced the installation of its 400th robotic system worldwide. The milestone system—a SandRob® robotic sanding and finishing solution—was delivered to Balanced Body?, the global leader in premium Pilates, equipment and professional training.

The installation also marks Balanced Body's second SandRob system, expanding a partnership focused on scaling production while preserving the tactile surface quality that defines the company's products.

Balanced Body equipment is recognized for the feel of its precision-crafted wood frames, featuring smooth radii, blended transitions, and carefully finished edges that customers immediately notice. Achieving that level of finish traditionally required extensive manual sanding by highly skilled operators.

As demand for Pilates equipment grew, maintaining that craftsmanship at scale became increasingly difficult.

"Roboticom delivered exactly what they said they would," said Ken Endelman, Founder and CEO of Balanced Body. "The system gave us the consistency and through put we needed while maintaining the premium finish quality our customers expect from Balanced Body Pilates equipment."

Balanced Body first began working with Roboticom in 2022, introducing SandRob to automate the most physically demanding sanding operations while preserving the handcrafted feel of the final product. Today, SandRob performs the majority of the heavy sanding across complex wood components, while craftsmen complete the final ergonomic finishing pass. For Balanced Body, the goal was never to replace human craftsmanship, but to remove the physical bottleneck that limited how much equipment the company could deliver.

The results have been significant. Balanced Body reports a 70% reduction in sanding labor time on key product lines and a 30% increase in wood shop throughput, allowing the company to grow production without increasing strain on production or reducing headcount.

For Roboticom, the 400-robot milestone reflects a broader shift in manufacturing.

"Many people think robotics replaces craftsmanship," said Joe Soto, CEO of Epica International, the parent company of Roboticom. "In reality, the right automation protects it. By removing the most physically demanding steps, robotics allows skilled teams to focus on the details that define a premium product."

For Balanced Body, installing a second system reinforced the value of the partnership.

"In manufacturing, trust matters," Endelman added. "Roboticom delivered on their promises, from the technology itself to the support behind it."

With more than 400 robotic systems installed globally, Roboticom continues to expand its role in industries where finishing quality remains one of the most complex and labor-intensive stages of production.
