CSCMP welcomes Cisco to discuss demand forecasting using causal AI

The last 4 years have exposed inherent biases and limitations in expert-driven and statistical/ML-based forecasting approaches.  Cisco wasn’t immune from these challenges, and experienced broad-based shortages during the semiconductor crisis driving significant increases in product lead-time and constraining growth, only to be followed by inventory accumulation as the demand cycle inverted. We have operationalized an effective, efficient, comprehensive, and transparent 2-year forecasting capability using Causal-AI that addresses these limitations and enables powerful prescriptive capabilities. This system possesses the capability to identify causal factors influencing demand and forecast points of inflection in demand, as opposed to merely extrapolating trends.
