Neptec Technologies Corp. adds AutonomouStuff as a distribution partner for its OPAL 2.0 3D laser scanners

OPAL 2.0 3D laser scanners are specifically designed for real-time applications in harsh environments.

OTTAWA, June 3, 2013 - Neptec Technologies Corp., a leading developer of innovative 3D machine vision products, today announced that it has signed AutonomouStuff as a distribution partner for its breakthrough OPAL 2.0 LiDAR products.

OPAL 2.0 3D laser scanners are specifically designed for real-time applications in harsh environments. They incorporate Neptec's patented obscurant-penetrating LiDAR technology and are packaged for the punishing conditions typical of off-road vehicles and mapping sensors used in the mining, oil and gas, defense, and construction industries.

"AutonomouStuff has long been regarded as the world's leading distributor of components and services to build next-generation autonomous systems for such things as driverless cars, terrain mapping, collision avoidance, object tracking and intersection safety," said Michael Dunbar, Director of Business Development for Neptec Technologies. "We are thrilled to be working with them on integrating our space-proven technologies into tomorrow's autonomous solutions."

"OPAL scanners overcome many of the limitations of conventional laser scanners currently used in autonomous solutions - they have extended range, operate at 1540nm wavelength, can penetrate obscurants such as dense dust and snow, and are ruggedized for harsh environments - all of which make them very attractive for real-time automation solutions," said Bobby Hambrick, Chief Executive Officer of AutonomouStuff. "Neptec's 'more information, less data™' approach to building real-time 3D perception systems using OPAL scanners and 3DRi software makes it easy to build and integrate intelligent machine vision solutions and reduces complexity and life cycle costs for our customers."

About Neptec Technologies Corp.

Neptec Technologies Corp. develops innovative 3D machine vision products for machine automation and robotics applications in harsh environments. The company was founded in 2011 to commercialize space-technologies developed by Neptec Design Group Ltd., an award-winning space flight technology company and NASA prime contractor. Our first products are a family of obscurant-penetrating laser scanners (OPAL) and a software development tool kit (3DRi) with advanced features such as automatic change detection and object recognition and tracking. Together, these out-of-the-box "building blocks" make it easy to integrate intelligent real-time machine vision applications on autonomous off-road vehicles, and for more familiar LiDAR-based survey and measurement tasks in harsh environments. The company is located in Kanata, Ontario. For more information, visit www.neptectechnologies.com.

BitFlow Introduces 6th Generation Camera Link Frame Grabber: The Axion

BitFlow has offered a Camera Link frame grabbers for almost 15 years. This latest offering, our 6th generation combines the power of CoaXPress with the requirements of Camera Link 2.0. Enabling a single or two camera system to operate at up to 850 MB/S per camera, the Axion-CL family is the best choice for CL frame grabber. Like the Cyton-CXP frame grabber, the Axion-CL leverages features such as the new StreamSync system, a highly optimized DMA engine, and expanded I/O capabilities that provide unprecedented flexibility in routing. There are two options available; Axion 1xE & Axion 2xE. The Axion 1xE is compatible with one base, medium, full or 80-bit camera offering PoCL, Power over Camera Link, on both connectors. The Axion 2xE is compatible with two base, medium, full or 80-bit cameras offering PoCL on both connectors for both cameras. The Axion-CL is a culmination of the continuous improvements and updates BitFlow has made to Camera Link frame grabbers.
