CAMBRIDGE, MA, ISSUED FEBRUARY 27, 2019…..XSurgical, a firm developing and bringing to market a remotely controlled surgical robot, has been accepted for membership in the Medical Technology Enterprise Consortium (MTEC), a 501(c)3 biomedical technology consortium collaborating with multiple government agencies to foster integrated research partnerships to speed availability of medical technology solutions to the military, veterans and the civilian population.

XSurgical is in the process of developing and bringing to market a third iteration of a remotely controlled surgical robot, which can be deployed in situations of disaster recovery, battlefield and travels into space. The surgical robot will be able to perform minimally invasive and open surgery, guided by surgeons from remote locations. The concept has received interest from some key military personnel and the Department of Defense. XSurgical is also working to develop the artificial intelligence to make subsequent robots fully autonomous.

MTEC membership is comprised of a wide range of organizations, including large companies, small businesses, research institutions and non-profit organizations. MTEC facilitates collaboration among its members and government agencies on biomedical research and development across all areas of military medicine. For more information please visit mtec-sc.org.
