AEC Next & SPAR 3D Expo & Conference Draws Nearly 1,900 Professionals for Education, Networking, and Newest AEC and 3D Technology

“The increase in attendance year over year was beyond our expectations; this growth just goes to show how much our attendees value meeting face to face and learning how they can collaborate with each other to elevate their projects using the technology showcased here,” said Christine Salmon, Event Director for Diversified Communications.

PORTLAND, MAINE - June 5, 2019 - The 2019 editions of AEC Next Technology Expo + Conference and SPAR 3D Expo & Conference came to a close on May 23 at the Anaheim Convention Center. Nearly 1,900 professionals registered for the co-located events from a wide range of industries including architecture, engineering, and construction; surveying and mapping; civil and transportation infrastructure, industrial facilities, plants, and asset management; power and utilities; manufacturing; historic preservation; archaeology and digital heritage; mining, aggregates, and stockpile management; insurance and real estate; research and academia; robotic and vehicle navigation and sensing; and many more.

"The increase in attendance year over year was beyond our expectations; this growth just goes to show how much our attendees value meeting face to face and learning how they can collaborate with each other to elevate their projects using the technology showcased here," said Christine Salmon, Event Director for Diversified Communications.
The co-located events, organized by Diversified Communications, brought together thought leaders from around the globe for two distinct conference programs and a single integrated exhibit hall. Attendees hailed from 33 countries including all 50 U.S. states and Washington DC, as well as seven Canadian provinces. Multiple live-demonstration areas including an interactive BIM Cave, hands-on AR/VR demonstrations, mobile scanning devices, vehicle mounted remote sensing hardware, and more were available for all attendees to explore the newest technology. In addition to the hardware on display from 118 exhibitors, attendees connected during several networking events and learned from a full program consisting of more than 80 technical sessions, case studies, 101-tracks, and panels.
"You can't get these kinds of discussions behind a desk or over the phone - they're happening here. We are excited to continue providing hands-on collaboration in Chicago next year. We have some amazing partnerships lined up that we can't wait to announce for 2020 which will propel these events further, including a bigger show floor, more attendees, more sessions and more thought leaders teaching us, inspiring us, and collaborating," said Christine Salmon, Event Director for AEC Next.
2020 will bring AEC Next Technology Expo + Conference and SPAR 3D Expo & Conference together again from June 3-5, 2019 at McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois. The event will again be organized by Diversified Communications and will complement the other products in the company's technology portfolio which includes AEC Next News, SPAR 3D.com, International Lidar Mapping Forum, Commercial UAV Expo Americas, Commercial UAV Expo Europe, and Commercial UAV News.

Nion: Next-level time-of-flight

The new Nion 3D camera advances Time-of-Flight (ToF) technology with exceptional resolution, speed, and industrial robustness. Designed for demanding applications such as logistics, warehousing, industrial automation, and robotics, Nion delivers high-resolution depth data with real-time performance for faster, safer, and more flexible operations. At its core is the 1.2-megapixel Time-of-Flight sensor AF0130 from onsemi's Hyperlux ID family, offering up to four times the resolution of conventional VGA-based ToF cameras and significantly higher data density. Active 940-nm laser illumination ensures accurate and stable measurements in low-light conditions, artificial lighting, and even direct sunlight. With an IP67-rated housing, Nion is built for reliable operation in dusty, wet, and thermally challenging industrial environments. A user-friendly API with IDS peak support and compliance with the GigE Vision standard enable fast integration and flexible deployment in high-resolution 3D applications. The Nion 3D camera is now available from IDS Imaging Development Systems.
