A Dynamic Duo – Quest and Ossid Team Up to Demonstrate Robotic Protein Packaging Automation at IPPE 2023
Exhibiting together in booth C12813, Quest and Ossid collaborative expertise show what the ProMach family of brands can do for your next protein packaging application.
MONROE, Wisconsin, January 11, 2023 - Quest and Ossid, two leading manufacturers within the ProMach family of brands, are teaming up to demonstrate an integrated robotic packaging line in booth C12813 at the International Production & Processing Expo (IPPE), Jan. 24-26, 2023, at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta.
This integrated packaging line demonstrates a versatile Quest QP100 Robotic primary product handling system feeding into an Ossid thermoformer. Utilizing Fanuc vision and the flexibility of a six-axis robot, this system identifies, orientates, and loads steaks into thermoformed trays. The robot end-of-arm tool utilizes a Soft Robotics' mGripâ„¢ soft gripper designed for delicate and difficult-to-handle products, such as poultry and meats. Soft Robotics mGripâ„¢ enables robots to safely and efficiently pick and pack food products with a pneumatically actuated gripper that is made of IP69K food-grade materials.
"This packaging solution really helps the protein industry cope with their ongoing labor challenges," said Erik Grinnell, Vice President of Automation, Quest. "We take pride in listening to our customer's challenges and taking their input to develop innovative, small footprint, and cost-effective solutions that make them more efficient and keep production lines operational. This demonstration between Quest and Ossid is just one of many examples of our commitment."
Show attendees will notice just how small of a footprint an integrated line of this size can be; it does not take up a lot of space in a facility, and it can be made more compact if necessary. It is also scalable to add additional robots for higher production rates and volumes.
This integrated packaging line for protein applications is a great illustration of ProMach bringing its product brands closer together to better meet the needs of its customers. Projects like this allow customers to have one central point of contact, which serves as a one-stop, full-service provider by connecting ProMach brands together.
Forty-five packaging and automation-focused companies comprise the ProMach family of product brands in categories including Systems & Integration, Filling, Bottling & Capping, Decorative Labeling, Flexibles & Trays, Handling & Sterilization, Labeling & Coding, Robotics & End of Line, and Pharma.
