Igus Launches New DeviceNet Cable Designed for Dynamic Robotic Applications
The new DeviceNet cable withstands up to ±360°/m of torsion and 10 million torsional cycles, with a reduced diameter for space-constrained robotic applications.
igus has expanded its CFROBOT8.PLUS robot cable family with a new DeviceNet cable designed to handle up to ±360°/m of torsion in dynamic robotic applications.
The CFROBOT8.PLUS family is engineered for up to 10 million torsional cycles, with a specialized shield design that provides flexibility during continuous robotic movement. The cables also feature a reduced outer diameter — up to 21% smaller than previous CFROBOT8 models — making them a good fit for tight spaces.
A tinned-copper braided shield helps maintain signal integrity under demanding conditions, while oil and UV resistance enables reliable use in both indoor and outdoor environments.
igus' new DeviceNet cable is suited to a wide range of applications including:
Six-axis robots
Handling systems
Machine tools
Linear and lead screw systems
Other applications with continuous torsional movement
The CFROBOT8.PLUS family also includes cables for PROFINET, PROFIBUS, CAN bus and Ethernet applications up to CAT7, giving users options across a wide range of industrial communication systems. Like all chainflex cables, CFROBOT8.PLUS cables are tested in igus's 5,500-square-meter laboratory under simulated real-world robotic motion. Testing has demonstrated reliable electrical performance through more than 15 million cycles.

ABOUT IGUS®
igus GmbH develops and produces motion plastics. These lubrication-free, high-performance polymers improve technology and reduce costs wherever things move. In energy supplies, highly flexible cables, plain and linear bearings as well as lead screw technology made of tribo-polymers, igus is the worldwide market leader. The family-run company based in Cologne, Germany, is represented in 31 countries and employs 4,600 people across the globe. In 2022, igus generated a turnover of €1,15 billion. Research in the industry's largest test laboratories constantly yields innovations and more security for users. 234,000 articles are available from stock and the service life can be calculated online. In recent years, the company has expanded by creating internal start-ups, e.g., for ball bearings, robot drives, 3D printing, the RBTX platform for Lean Robotics and intelligent "smart plastics" for Industry 4.0. Among the most important environmental investments are the "change" programme - recycling of used e-chains - and the participation in an enterprise that produces oil from plastic waste.
