Geisinger Health System Purchases Mazor Robotics' Renaissance System

Renaissance is Mazor Robotics' surgical guidance system for spine procedures, the only robotic technology specifically for spine surgery currently available in the marketplace.

CAESAREA, Israel--Mazor Robotics Ltd (TASE:MZOR), the leader in innovative surgical robots and complementary products for spine surgery, today announced that Geisinger Health System purchased its Renaissanceâ„¢ system. Renaissance is Mazor Robotics' surgical guidance system for spine procedures, the only robotic technology specifically for spine surgery currently available in the marketplace. Geisinger Health System is an integrated health services organization serving more than 2.6 million residents of 42 counties in central and northeastern Pennsylvania.

Michael Suk, MD, will oversee the Renaissance system's clinical and academic orthopedic program at Geisinger. He joined Geisinger Health System earlier this year.

"The Renaissance system has proven to provide patients with scoliosis significantly better outcomes from procedures that result in shorter hospital stays, quicker recoveries and reduces intraoperative radiation exposure," said Michael Suk, M.D., chairman, department of orthopedic surgery, Geisinger Health System. "The exceptional precision and safety of the Renaissance system is a drastic improvement over freehand surgery, and it will help patients feel even more confident in the high-quality care they receive at Geisinger, especially during complicated spine procedures."

Meagan Fernandez, DO, a fellowship-trained pediatric orthopedic surgeon at Geisinger, will perform pediatric spine surgeries with Renaissance.

"Ultimately, our patients can rest assured knowing that they are receiving the absolute latest scoliosis treatment that is unavailable anywhere else in our region," said Dr. Fernandez. "The technology behind this system has been rigorously tested, and the results have been remarkable in terms of a patient's recovery time and the eventual end result."

"Geisinger is widely known for its broad applications of technology, an approach based on themes of quality, innovation, and market leadership," said Ori Hadomi, CEO of Mazor Robotics. "Dr. Suk is building a world class spine surgery practice, and we are proud to make an important contribution to this exceptional health system's goals for patient care."

3D Vision: Ensenso B now also available as a mono version!

This compact 3D camera series combines a very short working distance, a large field of view and a high depth of field - perfect for bin picking applications. With its ability to capture multiple objects over a large area, it can help robots empty containers more efficiently. Now available from IDS Imaging Development Systems. In the color version of the Ensenso B, the stereo system is equipped with two RGB image sensors. This saves additional sensors and reduces installation space and hardware costs. Now, you can also choose your model to be equipped with two 5 MP mono sensors, achieving impressively high spatial precision. With enhanced sharpness and accuracy, you can tackle applications where absolute precision is essential. The great strength of the Ensenso B lies in the very precise detection of objects at close range. It offers a wide field of view and an impressively high depth of field. This means that the area in which an object is in focus is unusually large. At a distance of 30 centimetres between the camera and the object, the Z-accuracy is approx. 0.1 millimetres. The maximum working distance is 2 meters. This 3D camera series complies with protection class IP65/67 and is ideal for use in industrial environments.
