May 5, 2015 - San Diego, CA - Photron, Inc., (www.photron.com) a global leader and manufacturer of high-speed cameras and image analysis software, introduces the high-definition (HD), FASTCAM Mini WX100. The new 4-megapixel high-speed video camera is compact at only 120 mm (4.7") H x 120 mm (4.7") W x 99 mm (3.9") D, lightweight, 1.6 kg (3.5 lbs.) and is packaged in a rugged housing for demanding imaging applications. It provides 2,048 x 2,048 pixel resolution to over 1,000 frames per second (fps), 1080 HD pixel resolution to 2,000 fps, and higher frame rates up to 80,000 fps at reduced resolution.


Photron's new lightweight, single-body camera is specially designed for operation in high shock and vibration environments, such as High-G automotive safety testing and high-speed military testing. With a 12-bit sensor that provides excellent image quality and color fidelity, it is also ideal for use in a wide variety of high-speed scientific and industrial imaging applications. The superior light sensitivity is measured to ISO 12232 Ssat standard: ISO 6,400 monochrome / ISO 2,000 color. Available with three memory options of 4 GB, 8 GB, and 16 GB, and a high performance Gigabit Ethernet interface to PC, the Mini WX 100 permits very rapid download of images (up to 5 GBs per minute).

The FASTCAM Mini WX 100 is perfectly suited for biomechanics, life sciences, fluid dynamics / particle image velocimetry (PIV), materials science, onboard and offboard automotive safety testing, and military/defense/aerospace research. The compact, high-speed camera comes with standard F-mount and C-mount lens mounts, for added flexibility.
