OSI Optoelectronics Introduces Back-Illuminated Silicon Photodiodes

Each photodiode is designed on a square surface mount package with dimensions similar to the actual chip.

August 27, 2015 - Hawthorne, CA - OSI Optoelectronics (OSIO) (www.osioptoelectronics.com), an OSI Systems Company and global supplier of high performance standard and OEM photodiodes, high-power light sources, and turnkey solutions, introduces the BI-SMT Photodetector Series. The new single-channel, back-illuminated silicon photodiodes are specifically designed to minimize any "dead" areas on the edges of the devices. Each photodiode is designed on a square surface mount package with dimensions similar to the actual chip. This makes it possible to have multiple detectors arranged in a tiled pattern for easy coupling to a scintillator.

There are currently three BI-SMT devices: the 33BI-SMT features an active area of 5.76 mm² (dimensions are 2.4 x 2.4 mm); the 55BI-SMT has a19.36 mm² active area (4.4 x 4.4 mm dimensions); the 1010BI-SMT features a larger 88.36 mm² active area (9.4 x 9.4 mm dimensions). The typical peak spectral responsivity for all three photodiodes is 920 nm. The BI-SMT series are used in X-ray inspection, computed tomography, and general industrial tasks. Convenient and easy to integrate into new and/or existing systems, OSI Optoelectronics' unique devices feature chip size packaging, easy coupling to scintillators, and patterned electrodes. Operating temperatures range from -20°C ~ to +60° degrees C; storage temperatures range from -20°C ~ to +80° degrees C.

OSI's BI-SMT photodiodes will be available for shipping December, 2015. For more information about the company's new photodetectors for industrial and scientific applications, please visit: www.osioptoelectronics.com/.

PQ12-R Micro Linear Servo

PQ12-R Micro Linear Servo

The PQ12-R series of linear servos are the smallest affordable linear servo on the market today. Small enough to fit inside a tic tac box, it's very powerful with a maximum force of over 11lbs. It operates as a direct plug-and-play replacement for standard rotary servos, using the same standard 3 wire connector. Regardless of how you drive your servos, be it with an RC receiver, an Arduino board, or a VEX micro-controller, the PQ12-R servo will function in place of a regular servo, but with the added benefit of providing linear motion. They're available in a 20mm stroke coupled with gear ratio options of 30:1, 63:1 and 100:1 cover a large variety of applications. Our PQ12 is popular used in a variety of robotics applications, medical devices, radio control and 3D printable bionic hands. Our PQ12 is proudly designed in Canada by our in-house team of engineers and thoroughly tested before leaving our facility.
