Newly Constructed 97,000 sq. ft manufacturing facility

The new US manufacturing and headquarters more than doubles the company's current square footage. The move to Beverly signifies a historic homecoming for the company.

Originally a division of United Shoe Machinery Corp., Harmonic Drive designs and manufactures motion control products, including precision servo actuators, gearheads, and gear component sets based on the harmonic gear.

The strain wave gear, or harmonic gear, was the brainchild of the genius American inventor C. Walton Musser. Mr. Musser was a brilliant inventor who was awarded more than 200 patents, in a wide range of fields going even beyond his specialty in mechanical engineering to include also physics, chemistry, and biology.

Mr. Musser worked closley with two companies to commercialize his strain wave gear concept. One was the U.S. company United Shoe Machinery Corporation (USM), the forerunner of Harmonic Drive LLC and the other was the Japanese company, Hasegawa Gear Works, Ltd., the forerunner of Harmonic Drive Systems Inc. Today, high precision Harmonic Drive® gears continue to be manufactured by Harmonic Drive LLC, Harmonic Drive SE and Harmonic Drive Systems, Inc.
Harmonic Drive® products are used primarily in robotics and semiconductor manufacturing, but have also been used on the International Space Station, Mars Explorer Rovers, and the Lunar Rover that was driven on the moon in 1971.

Participants in the ribbon cutting included the daughter of C. Walton Musser, Yvonne Graham, exeuctive officers from the Harmonic Drive group companies, the mayor of Beverly, Mayor Michael Cahill and Secretary Mike Kennealy. Also in attendance was Mr. Paul Berton. Mr. Paul Berton was in charge of the Harmonic Drive Business at USM and promoted the establishment of the companies in Japan and Germany. He was also a former director of Harmonic Drive Systems Inc. All employees from Harmonic Drive LLC were invited and joined in the celebration.

uEye XC AUTOMATICALLY PERFECT IMAGES

Combining the ease of use of a webcam with the performance and reliability of an industrial camera? The uEye XC autofocus camera from IDS Imaging Development Systems proves that this is possible. Its high-resolution imaging, simple setup and adaptability make it an invaluable tool for improving quality control and streamlining workflows in industrial settings - especially for cases where users would normally employ a webcam. The uEye XC autofocus camera features a 13 MP onsemi sensor and supports two different protocols: USB3 Vision, which enables programmability and customization, and UVC (USB Video Class). The UVC functionality enables a single cable connection for easy setup and commissioning, while delivering high-resolution images and video. This makes the uEye XC camera an ideal option for applications that require quick setup and need to manage variable object distances. Additional features such as digital zoom, automatic white balance and color correction ensure precise detail capture, which is essential for quality control.
