Clearpath Robotics Announces Grant Program to Help Advance Innovative Robotics Research

Grant funding includes Husky UGV and Dingo mobile robotic platforms, and robot accessories for qualifying academic and corporate researchers

KITCHENER, Canada - September 30, 2020 - Today, Clearpath Robotics announced the PartnerBot Grant Program to help qualifying academic and corporate researchers accelerate innovative robotics development. The grants come in the form of Clearpath mobile robotic platforms, including Husky unmanned ground vehicles (UGV) and Dingo indoor research platforms, as well as discounts on robot sensors and accessories from the Clearpath component store.


"This year has been extremely challenging for so many reasons. While COVID-19 has created a number of opportunities in robotics, it has also provided new obstacles to academic research funding, and exciting projects from startups and academia have had to be put on hold," said Julian Ware, General Manager at Clearpath Robotics. "The PartnerBot grant program is our way of giving back to the community that has been so supportive of us over the years. We want to see these groups not only survive in uncertain times, but thrive in the years to come."

The PartnerBot Grant Program is a one-year commitment during which selected academic and corporate research teams will use the Clearpath Robotics' Husky UGV or Dingo indoor research platform to actively pursue their robotics research and push development forward.

Husky UGV is a rugged, all-terrain robotic platform for rapid prototyping and research applications. With thousands deployed in robotics research labs globally, Husky has been used for advancing teleoperation research in hazardous environments, construction monitoring, nuclear waste removal, agricultural automation and countless other applications.

Released in 2019, the Dingo indoor research platform is a flexible and compact robotic platform for indoor research applications. With its modular design and support for differential and omnidirectional drive configurations, Dingo is suitable for a wide range of indoor robotics research applications ranging from autonomous navigation, mobile manipulation, and mapping.

Clearpath robotic platforms are a proven way to reduce deployment time and improve research efficiency. The robots can be easily customized with third-party sensors and components, and integrated seamlessly with the Robot Operating System (ROS) framework, allowing researchers to leverage open-source libraries, tools and the greater ROS community.

Qualifying researchers can submit applications as of September 30, 2020. The deadline for application submissions is November 13, 2020. Award recipients will be announced on November 18th, 2020.
