D3 Announces Cameras Supercharging Edge AI with New Intel® Core™ Ultra processors aka Meteor Lake

As Intel's lead camera partner, D3 introduces cameras elevating the revolutionary processing power of Intel's AI acceleration.

Rochester, NY - December 14, 2023 - Today, D3 announced ready-to-use embedded vision solutions for Intel® Core™ Ultra processors (former code name Meteor Lake), targeting industrial, video and edge AI applications. This collaboration aligns with Intel's strategy of democratizing AI, allowing developers to bring efficient AI to the edge with high-performance camera modules that are 100% designed, built, and tested in the USA.

D3's DesignCore® Series cameras streamline Intel Core Ultra processors' AI processing by taking advantage of the powerful the Intel® on-chip Image Processing Unit (IPU) and delivering video directly to multiple AI-ready compute engines, including the new tightly integrated Intel® AI Boost Neural Processing Unit (NPU) dedicated to AI, delivering highly efficient performance for demanding edge AI and video workloads.

Intel's IPU unlocks more advanced image processing algorithms than on-camera solutions, producing higher quality images that enable optimal performance of AI models. The combination of D3's unique Intel IPU tuning access and advanced camera technology delivers high-quality, low-latency video streams enabling real-time AI processing on the edge. This eliminates the need for cloud-based processing, reducing the risk of critical network failures and improving responsiveness in performance-critical applications.

The DesignCore Series Cameras allow developers to quickly and easily deploy next-generation AI capabilities at the edge for vision and automation use cases, even in space- and power-constrained environments. Key supported markets include automotive, industrial, robotics, medical, and aerospace.

"D3 is committed to providing developers with the specialized tools they require to create next-generation AI sensing solutions." said Scott Reardon, CEO at D3. "By collaborating with Intel on embedded Intel Core Ultra processors camera technology, D3 is the first to take edge AI imaging from vision to reality on Intel's most capable chipset to date."

D3's DesignCore Series Camera lineup features HDR (High Dynamic Range), Global Shutter, RGB, RGB-IR and IR technology. Learn more about DesignCore Series Cameras: https://www.d3engineering.com/solutions/camera-modules/
