Fast, High-Load Hexapod for Motion Simulation, Stabilization, and Cancellation

PI’s newest hexapod, driven by brushless servo motors, easily handles loads to 130 lbs.

PI (Physik Instrumente) L.P., a leading manufacturer of precision positioning, motion control and nanopositioning equipment, introduces the H-900KSCO hexapod, designed dynamic motion in XYZ, pitch roll, and yaw. 6-axis parallel kinematics motion is perfected by PI hexapods delivering nanopositioning precision, high speed, and stability necessary to meet today's demanding motion control applications.

Applications of H-900KSCO Hexapod
Hexapod applications include motion simulation (profiles compatible to ISO 20672, ISO 8728, and ISO 16328), industrial production, precision machining, automotive industry, stabilization of motion on moving vehicles and vessels.

Compact & Stiff, No Moving Cables
The new compact hexapod provides linear travel ranges up to 200mm and rotation to 66 degrees. It is driven by brushless servo-motors and combines high load capacity (130 lbs) with fast response and high linear speeds up to 80mm/sec and angular speed of 30°/sec. The parallel kinematics design eliminates the need for moving cables and results in a very stiff and compact positioning solution, compared to conventional multi-axis designs.

Freely Defineable Trajectory
The 6-axis vector motion controller provides smooth vectorised motion and a randomized, used-defined pivot point (center of rotation) that can be changed on the fly by one software command for increased versatility. Software for alignment and tracking is included, as well as for defining trajectories and sinusoidal curves with high accuracy. Additional software tools avoid collisions with surroundings in restricted workplaces.

Standard and Custom
PI provides in-house engineered solutions with over 4 decades of experience delivering products that exceed expectations and application demands of our customers. PI can quickly modify existing product designs or provide a fully customized OEM part to fit the exact requirements of the application.

ST Robotics - K11R robot controller now available for your own robot!

St Robotics is making the K11R robot controller available for any robot that uses stepping motors including the IGUS range. Providing you use low inductance motors the K11R will provide surprising power and speed from it's 55v DC supply and Gecko micro-stepping drives controlled by a fast DSP and micro-controller. The software is RoboForth II V17 embedded in the controller which together with the PC project supervisor gets your robot going within minutes. It is a text based conversational language that is so easy to use yet permits programs of great complexity when required. The kinematics are easily tailored to any size of robot and any number of axes from 3 to 6. The controller will also provide easy calibration to sensors and also reads back and compares encoders if you fit them. Speed, acceleration and rate of acceleration (3rd order) are all programmable as is emergency stop and many other features. Your positional data and programs may be saved on your PC and also in the controller's flash memory. The K11R will also control external devices such as pneumatic gripper, vacuum pickup, air cylinders and communicate with a PLC. Pricing starts at $2500. Contact ST at
