ALVA Industries and Copley Controls Reunite for Live Motion Demo at SPS 2025

The demo, available in Alva’s booth (Hall 3, Booth 259), highlights a fully operational motion system combining zero-cogging torque performance from Alva’s SlimTorq™ motor with Copley’s advanced servo control technology.

Trondheim, Norway / Massachusetts, USA - 18 November 2025 - Following their successful joint showcase at Automatica earlier this year, ALVA Industries (ALVA) and Copley Controls (Copley) are partnering once again, this time at SPS 2025, to demonstrate the seamless integration of Alva's SlimTorq™ frameless motors with Copley's Accelnet BPL-090-30 servo drive.

The demo, available in Alva's booth (Hall 3, Booth 259), highlights a fully operational motion system combining zero-cogging torque performance from Alva's SlimTorq™ motor with Copley's advanced servo control technology. Together, they deliver a motion control solution engineered for unmatched smoothness, responsiveness, and integration flexibility, ideal for robotics, automation, and precision machinery.

"At Copley Controls, we are committed to delivering precision servo drive solutions that enable high-performance motion ecosystems. We are thrilled to demonstrate how our compatibility with Alva's motors gives customers a streamlined path to world-class servo performance backed by two trusted industry partners" from Ryan LaVoie, Director of Product Management & Marketing at Copley Controls.

"It's a pleasure to once again team up with Copley at SPS," said Anton Franzén, Director of Product Management & Application Engineering at Alva Industries. "Together, we're showing how easily our SlimTorq™ motor integrates with Copley's servo drive to deliver a compact, powerful motion solution."

At the heart of the demo is Alva's SlimTorq™ motor series, designed for applications demanding low cogging, high torque density, and compact integration. Its frameless, slotless architecture and large through-hole offer maximum design flexibility for robotics, gimbals, and medical systems.

Driving the setup is the Copley Accelnet BPL-090-30, a DC-powered servo drive that delivers up to 15 A continuous current with precise control across position, velocity, and torque modes. Supporting CANopen DS-402, multiple feedback options, and CME 2™ software for fast commissioning, the BPL represents a robust solution for embedded motion control applications.

Model TR1 Tru-Trac

Model TR1 Tru-Trac

The Model TR1 Tru-Trac® linear measurement solution is a versatile option for tracking velocity, position, or distance over a wide variety of surfaces. An integrated encoder, measuring wheel, and spring-loaded torsion arm in one, compact unit, the Model TR1 is easy to install. The spring-loaded torsion arm offers adjustable torsion load, allowing the Model TR1 to be mounted in almost any orientation - even upside-down. The threaded shaft on the pivot axis is field reversible, providing mounting access from either side. With operating speeds up to 3000 feet per minute, a wide variety of configuration options - including multiple wheel material options - and a housing made from a durable, conductive composite material that minimizes static buildup, the Model TR1 Tru-Trac® is the ideal solution for countless applications.
