KUKA Robotics Corporation Debuts New Technologies at FABTECH 2011

Discover the latest in welding technology from KUKA Robotics in booth #6339 at FABTECH Chicago, IL November 14-17th, 2011

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. & CHICAGO-KUKA Robotics to display the latest in robotic welding innovation for the welding and fabricating industry at FABTECH 2011. Two In-booth demonstrations will showcase significant technical robotic solutions for the welding and fabricating industry.

KUKA Robotics will feature the full line of hollow wrist arc welding robots working together in an innovative fabricating robotic solution. Robots shown in this demo will be the KR-5HW rated at 5 Kg with 1423 mm (56 inches) of reach, the KR-16HW rated at 16 Kg with 1623 mm (63.9 inches) of reach, the KR-16L8HW rated at 8 KG with 2011 mm (79.2 inches) of reach . These robots are part of the overall arc welding line of 9 arc welding arms with conventional and hollow wrist designs. These powerful performers will be coupled with a KR-150-2 KUKA material handling robot rated at 150Kg in a simulated welding application where the material handling robot will position and rotate the part while the welding robots weld simultaneously. All four of these robots will be coordinated with KUKA RoboTeam for arc welding applications. Robot Team supports up to 4 robots and a material handling robot at one time with auxiliary axes and positioners. The optional KUKA RoboTeam package allows a high path accuracy better than .3 mm and allows individual robots to be programmed with one teach pendant or with multiple teach pendants for faster programming. Advanced error handling is also standard.

The second in booth demonstration will be a KR 30L 16 standard wrist robot with reach of 3102 mm ( 122 inches) and rated at 16 KG of capacity. It will be shown with the Servo Robot Vision Sensor and the KUKA Seam Tech interface package. The demonstration will illustrate multiple pass heavy plate adaptive fill applications with weaving and various other single pass applications. The robot's ability to track the part after movement will be also be demonstrated. The combination of these technologies is targeted at extra-large weldments where joint geometry and location are irregular and unpredictable.

On the show floor in-booth demonstrations designed and supplied by Official KUKA Robotics System Partners will include: SKS /M.A.P. featuring a KR 6 (booth # 5966), HTC featuring a KR 6 (booth #5728), CM Industries featuring a KR 6 (booth # 6368), IGM featuring a KR 5 Arc HW (booth# 6166), Thermadyne Industries featuring a KR 16 (booth# 6140), Prestin Eastin featuring a KMC (booth # 5546), and Easom featuring a KMC (booth # 5909) showcasing a total of 7 additional robotic technology demonstrations on the show floor.

The KUKA Robotics System Partner network is designed to mutually benefit each organization's users by extending the way customers can acquire tailored solutions with the major competitive and technological advantage of high precision KUKA robots. The KUKA Robotics System Partner Network includes experienced OEM machine builders, system providers, application specialists and expert robot integrators.
