Precitech Offers Remote Device Interface For UPx Machine Controller

Interface Provides Users with Greater Flexibility Integrating Precitech ultra precision Lathes into Manufacturing Environment

Precitech, a global leader in ultra precision manufacturing, now offers the UPx Remote Device Interface -a powerful suite of approximately 100 commands that open up a host of new possibilities for data sharing and process automation of Precitech's ultra precision machine tools.

The UPx Remote Device allows for, among other things, the ability to remotely load program parameters and run programs. Data collected by external measurement equipment can now be used to actively update part program parameters between passes. Time stamps and part information can be put on a network from within the program, and start/stop times, number of cycles, and current state of a part can be tracked automatically.

Precitech offers a wide range of fast tool and slow tool options for the ultra precision manufacturing industry. These tools incorporate Precitech's user friendly UPx machine controller that features the fast code execution rates and an extremely robust QNX operating system.

The UPx CNC machine controller is designed specifically to increase throughput. This computational power allows users to produce excellent surface finishes at higher cutting rates and lower part-cutting times than older DSP-based technologies. Part-cutting programs can be set up to cut multiple roughing or finishing passes without operator intervention. The machine also comes equipped with many machine diagnostic and set up aids.

Precitech, based in Keene, NH, provides ultra precision single-point and multi-axis diamond turning machines for applications requiring nanometric levels of accuracy. Its NanoForm 250Ultra precision diamond turning lathe is specifically designed for the production of optical lenses, optical mold inserts and mirrors as well as precision mechanical components.

Preecitech is a unit of AMETEK Ultra Precision Technologies, a division of AMETEK, Inc, a leading global manufacturer of electronic instruments and electromechanical devices, with annualized sales of $3.0 billion. Schmalz Technology Development - The Right Gripper for Every Task

In order to interact with their environment and perform the tasks, lightweight robots, like all industrial robots, depend on tools - and in many cases these are vacuum grippers. These form the interface to the workpiece and are therefore a decisive part of the overall system. With their help, the robots can pick up, move, position, process, sort, stack and deposit a wide variety of goods and components. Vacuum gripping systems allow particularly gentle handling of workpieces, a compact and space-saving system design and gripping from above. Precisely because the object does not have to be gripped, the vacuum suction cupenables gapless positioning next to each other.
