Winners selected based on job growth, expansion and investment, and community involvement

Cambridge, Massachusetts - October 30, 2012 - Vecna Medical has been named as a Gold winner for the Team Massachusetts Economic Impact Awards, awarded annually by MassEcon (Massachusetts Alliance for Economic Development). The awards celebrate companies that have made an outstanding contribution to the Massachusetts economy. The winners from each region will be recognized at an awards luncheon on November 20th at the Seaport Hotel in Boston. Over 400 are expected to attend, including featured speaker Governor Deval Patrick.

"The key to our economic recovery is innovation, and these Team Massachusetts Impact Award winners exemplify that innovative spirit," said Greg Bialecki, the Secretary of Housing and Economic Development. "Continuing to support and grow the innovation economy is one of the central goals of the Patrick-Murray Administration's economic development plan, and we look forward to seeing these companies continue to grow in the future."

MassEcon selected Vecna as the Greater Boston Gold Winner based on Vecna's growth and campus and facilities expansion since January 1, 2011. In addition, Vecna was distinguished for a sincere and measurable dedication to community, for creating jobs for recent graduates of Massachusetts-based colleges and universities, and for exporting high technology products proudly made in the Baystate.

Vecna's CEO, Deborah Theobald represented the company at the MassEcon Finalists Reception in September where she delivered a speech about Vecna's products and values to peers, and then addressed the questions of a panel of judges. Upon receiving the award announcement, Deborah said, "It is such an honor to be recognized by MassEcon as a game-changer and a leader within the state. Vecna has always been committed to taking innovative ideas dreamed up right here in Massachusetts and converting those ideas into outstanding products, and we are delighted to have our whole team receive praise for their efforts. Receiving this award only strengthens our drive to succeed and innovate, and in the process, to demonstrate that Massachusetts is a great place to do business." She will accept the award at the November 20th ceremony.

MassEcon selected the winners based on job growth, facility expansion, and investment since January 1, 2011, as well as other criteria including community involvement. Finalists competed on a regional basis, defined as West, Central, Southeast, Northeast, and Greater Boston.
