Siemens Receives 2013 Global Smart Machine Safety Networks Company of the Year Award

Siemens Safety Integrated solutions, with Totally Integrated Automation, selected best in class.

Siemens received Frost & Sullivan's 2013 Company of the Year Award in the machine safety networks market as part of Frost & Sullivan's Top 50 Game Changers analysis.

The Company of the Year award is presented each year to the company that demonstrates excellence in growth strategy and implementation, values a high degree of innovation with products and technologies, and leads the industry in customer value and market penetration.
Siemens Safety Integrated offers end users the ability to use one system for standard and safety-related automation. The fail-safe machine safety product line includes safety-related modular and PC-based controllers, I/O systems, safety relays, safe drives, machine components, wireless and HMI solutions, and other factory automation products related to safety. Siemens integrated machine safety amounts to significantly lower initial and operating costs, including a reduction in total cost of ownership of up to 30%.

Safety Integrated Solutions is a part of Siemens Safety, an industry leader in offering safety awareness such as education on the entire manufacturing systems lifecycle, including safety and compliance services, wireless safety compliance training and the TIA portal.

"Siemens engineers understand and consistently monitor the changes in ongoing international safety standards and regulations. No other automation company has greater experience in applying the appropriate safety solution based on the application," noted Frost & Sullivan Industry Manager Muthuraman "Ram" Ramasamy. "The company continues to stay true to its strategy of delivering flexible and scalable integrated machine safety solutions that increase both operator and manufacturing operations productivity and efficiency."

"Siemens has a solid platform for us to continue to excel in this category, translating into valued partnerships with existing and potential end users," states Raj Batra, president, Industry Automation Division for Siemens Industry, Inc. "This award is an honor for our team and drives us to work harder and smarter to continue to exceed expectations and requirements from our end users."

This is the second recognition for Siemens Safety of the Frost & Sullivan award. In 2011, Siemens was awarded the Frost & Sullivan Global Machine Safety Customer Value Enhancement Award.

The ERT150 - Dorner's Next Evolution of Edge Roller Technology Conveyors

The next evolution in Dorner's Edge Roller Technology conveyor platform, the ERT®150, is ideal for small and light-load assembly automation, as well as medical and medical-device assembly application. The ERT platform is the only pallet conveyor of its kind available with an ISO Standard Class 4 rating for cleanroom applications. Earning the ISO Standard 14644-1 Class 4 rating means Dorner's ERT150 will conform and not contribute to the contamination of cleanrooms to those standards. As implied by its name, the ERT150 (Edge Roller Technology) uses rollers to move pallets through the conveyor smoothly with no friction (a byproduct often seen in belt-driven platforms). The conveyor's open design eliminates concerns of small parts or screws dropping into rollers and causing conveyor damage or jamming. The ERT150 is suited to operate in cleanroom environments requiring a pallet handling conveyor. It is capable of zoning for no or low-back pressure accumulation and is ideal for automation assembly applications within industries including medical devices, electronics, consumer goods among others.
