Robotmaster at JEC 2014!

JEC 2014 in Paris was the perfect venue to unveil the latest Robotmaster features designed specifically for the robotized manufacturing of composites.

JEC 2014 in Paris was the perfect venue to unveil the latest Robotmaster features designed specifically for the robotized manufacturing of composites. The use of composites is increasing in Aerospace, Automotive and Ship manufacturing. Specialized programing tools are required to implement these new and emerging processes. Robotmaster and their partners were present at JEC to demonstrate the cost effective and powerful programming tools for composite trimming, milling, drilling, riveting and material layup.

The capabilities of Robotmaster were demonstrated live at the main Robotmaster booth by trimming a carbon fiber motorcycle exhaust cover using a KUKA KR60HA robot in collaboration with our integration partner GEBE2.

At the Iscar booth, the drilling and milling of an 8mm carbon fiber sheet using a new tool designed especially for carbon fiber was demonstrated. Robotmaster was used to program the Staubli Tx90 robot used for the live demos at the Iscar booth.
Staubli demonstrated milling of a turbine blade using a Tx90 at their booth. Once again, Robotmaster was used to program the Staubli robot, a visible and repeated sign of the long standing collaboration between Staubli and Robotmaster.
Fraunhofer IFAM was also present demonstrating the milling of a wooden block using an ABB robot. Fraunhofer IFAM uses Robotmaster to conduct research into emerging Aerospace robotic manufacturing applications. To see our video from JEC this year, go to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zkbjyjfQnHk

In addition to the live robot demonstrations, the latest technological advances created by Robotmaster were also unveiled showcasing the tools designed specifically for manufacturing of composite parts using robots. Some of the exciting new features are:
• Automated fixture creation with one click design/creation of trimming jigs;
• Configurable Universal Holding Fixtures (UHF);
• Comprehensive support for simple to complex drilling and riveting;
• Automated and flexible trimming using intelligent analysis tools;
• Introduction of fiber layup programming;
• Enhanced simulation support for complex manufacturing applications.

We would like to thank Intercam SA (Robotmaster distributor for Europe), 3IDM (Robotmaster reseller for France) and partners for a very successful JEC 2014.

About Robotmaster

Robotmaster seamlessly integrates CAD/CAM based robot programming, simulation and program generation. Common robot programming challenges typically require intricate user intervention or costly manual editing for producing error free programs. Robotmaster provides innovative new tools to effortlessly optimize robot programs producing error-free robot paths avoiding singularity zones and collisions, working around joint and reach limitations and optimizing tool orientations along the entire trajectory. Robotmaster is ideally suited to program robots for such tasks as trimming, 3D machining, de-burring, polishing, welding, dispensing, grinding and painting, and supports most industrial robot models.
