Festo introduces the ELGA-TB, the companys next generation belt drive. In comparison to the series it replaces, the ELGA-TB features improvements in feed forces, payload, and list price. The ELGA-TB is available in three sizes and two styles of guides to accommodate a wide range of application requirements.

The ELGA-TB-RF uses roller bearing guides, making it the ideal rugged and built-to-last solution for dynamic, long-stroke applications where high speeds, feed forces, and accelerations are required. The ELGA-TB-G uses a plain bearing guide for applications with small or externally-guided loads.

The ELGA-TB-RF is rated at speeds up to 33 feet/second (10 meters/second) and acceleration of up to 164 feet/second2 (50 meters/second2). The maintenance interval for is rated at 393 million inches (10 million meters) traveled. Repeatability is rated at up to + .003 inches (+ 0.08 mm). Working stroke for the new series ranges from 1.97 inches to 28 feet (50 mm to 8.5 meters). Feed force ranges from 350 to up to 1,300 N.

A corrosion resistant cover strip provides protection for belt and bearings in dirty environments. A magnetic attachment for the cover strip ensures protection when the belt drive is inverted.

Versatile motor attachment

The new series has flexible motor attachments - the motor can be mounted at four different positions and motor position can be changed at any time. The drive is compatible with all common stepper and servo motors.

Festo PositioningDrives sizing software helps OEMs reliably select the right axis, while the Festo Configuration Tool ensures convenient and easy commissioning.

"Festo believes that state-of-the-art industrial design, quality manufacture, and support services are strategic for both itself and its customers," said Frank Langro, Director of Marketing and Product Management. "The ELGA-TB series delivers outstanding performance for OEMs looking for every ounce of competitive advantage."

Schmalz Technology Development - The Right Gripper for Every Task

In order to interact with their environment and perform the tasks, lightweight robots, like all industrial robots, depend on tools - and in many cases these are vacuum grippers. These form the interface to the workpiece and are therefore a decisive part of the overall system. With their help, the robots can pick up, move, position, process, sort, stack and deposit a wide variety of goods and components. Vacuum gripping systems allow particularly gentle handling of workpieces, a compact and space-saving system design and gripping from above. Precisely because the object does not have to be gripped, the vacuum suction cupenables gapless positioning next to each other.
