Google Xs Project Wing Director, Dr. Nicholas Roy is the principal keynote speaker at the Commercial Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) Precision Delivery Unmanned Aircraft Systems Symposium and Technical Workshop at the University of Maryland on Tuesday, October 21st. The emerging commercial unmanned aircraft market is ready to "take off" within the United States; many are excited to hear key government, academia and subject matter experts discuss their latest innovations. The Federal Aviation Administrations Earl Lawrence, notable Roboticist, Dr. Vijay Kumar of the University of Pennsylvania and Rose Mooney, Executive Director of the Mid Atlantic Aviation Partnerships (MAAP) are but a few of the distinguished keynote speakers.
Traditionally, unmanned aerial vehicles have been used for military and scientific research purposes but within recent years the growth potential across public and commercial sector has increased dramatically. An exciting, eventful day is set for the metropolitan D.C. area with the 1st Annual Commercial Unmanned Aircraft Systems Symposium and Technical Workshop. On behalf of The American Helicopter Society-International, the University of Maryland and the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International, were proud to host and deliver an innovative event.
In a single day youll hear dialogue from the Federal Aviation Administration on the latest regulations governing commercial unmanned aircraft systems, and explore the work underway by the Mid-Atlantic Aviation Partnership FAA Test Sites. Google will share their vision and demonstrate their commercial drone precision delivery capability whilst NASA presents their airspace traffic management solution for Commercial UAS. In addition, University of Maryland students will unveil their innovative drone prototype and Aurora Flight Sciences will demonstrate a groundbreaking sense and avoid technology for small drones. The panel discussion being chaired by CEO AUVSI should stimulate lively discussion on the balance of regulation versus growth in the commercial UAS markets.
It has the makings of a great event for only $150 registration fee.
