Enhanced Situational Awareness Provided by New Sensors Unlimited Shortwave Infrared Field-Ready Viewer

The new high-resolution video system provides the ability to view all battlefield lasers during day or night operations.

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Oct. 14, 2014 UTC Aerospace Systems' Sensors Unlimited business has introduced a compact, modular shortwave infrared (SWIR) viewer system, the Warrior HWH (handheld/weapon/helmet) with enhanced situational awareness. The Warrior HWH provides distinct advantages over other available viewer technologies, including decreasing the time to identify, acquire and engage targets and reducing the risk of collateral damage. UTC Aerospace Systems is a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).

The new high-resolution video system provides the ability to view all battlefield lasers during day or night operations. Battlefield laser aim points are easily identified, permitting faster target engagement than other technologies. The Warrior HWH is also capable of imaging through conditions that degrade other non-SWIR systems including haze, smoke and dust, providing enhanced battle damage assessment.

Target-accurate and field-ready, the Warrior HWH can simultaneously identify and track three designator codes, and operates up to four continuous hours at room temperature.

The rugged and modular viewer is available in handheld, weapon flip or helmet-mounted configurations. To review technical specifications of the Warrior HWH, please visit: http://www.sensorsinc.com/products/detail/warrior-hwh-handheld-weapon-helmet.

Sensors Unlimited Warrior HWH system will be showcased at the AUSA Annual Meeting & Exposition at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, Washington, D.C., October 13-15, 2014. Please visit UTC Aerospace Systems' booth # 6629.

SCHUNK's New Safety Gripping System EGN

SCHUNK's New Safety Gripping System EGN

With the SLS, SOS, and STO functionalities, the SCHUNK EGN gripping system certified in accordance with DIN EN ISO 13849 enables safe human/machine collaboration. If the production process is interrupted by an emergency shut-off, the SCHUNK EGN goes into either a safely limited speed mode or a safe stop mode depending on the activated protection zone. In contrast to other solutions available on the market, the SCHUNK safety gripping system is continuously powered even in the safe operating stop so that the gripped parts are reliably held even without mechanical maintenance of gripping force. As soon as the protection zone is released, the gripper immediately switches back to the regular operating mode without the system having to be restarted.
