Daryl Davidson, the Executive Director of the AUVSI Foundation, joins the long list of eminent speakers participating in the upcoming Defence Innovation and Technology Conference (DITEC) 2015. An integral part of the globally recognized International Defence and Exhibition Conference (IDEX), DITEC 2015 will take place on 25 February. The conference is hosted by the Abu Dhabi Technology Development Committee, with the strategic partnership of the UAE's Ministry of Defence, and organized by the Defense Services Marketing Council (DSMC). This day-long event will be the largest defense-related Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) conference of its kind ever held in this region.

DITEC 2015 promises to play a key role in facilitating high-level discussions on the impact of STI on the future of defense from a global perspective. Participants will also witness a showcase of the very latest technological developments made by the defense industry.

To secure the unique profile of DITEC 2015, the organizing committee has already confirmed the participation of many leading government officials, policymakers and industry stakeholders from the field of defense research and development.

Daryl Davidson is a prime example; he has been working with AUVSI since 1988, including as Executive Director between 1996 and 2008. Mr. Davidson was appointed Executive Director of the AUVSI Foundation in 2009.

The AUVSI is the worlds largest organization devoted to the advancement of robotics and unmanned systems. Its sister organization, the AUVSI Foundation, is an educational foundation, which focuses on providing hands-on robotic programs to students of all ages.

On behalf of the event hosts, Faisal Al Hmoudi of the Abu Dhabi Technology Development Committee (TDC) said: "Mr. Davidson is a visionary and an undisputed expert in his field. His participation in this, the first DITEC event, is a major endorsement of the conference and extremely exciting for us."

The Chairman of DSMC, Matthew Cochran, was pleased at the news of Daryl Davidsons participation at DITEC 2015, saying: "We are excited at the news that Mr. Daryl Davidson has agreed to speak at DITEC 2105. His particular expertise and extensive knowledge in robotics and unmanned vehicle systems are unparalleled in the defense sector." Mr. Cochran continued: "In particular, we look forward to drawing on Mr. Davidsons experience in nurturing new innovation and inspiring the scientists and engineers of tomorrow."

Mr. Davidson said: "I look forward to speaking at DITEC and engaging with the government officials, defense experts and thinkers attending this conference. More than ever, people are waking up to the possibilities of robotics and unmanned systems in their everyday lives and this conference represents a tremendous opportunity to share great leaps forward in technological innovation that will ultimately benefit us all."

DITEC 2015 is hosted by the Technology Development Committee (TDC), which was established to encourage and support the development of Science, Technology, and Innovation in Abu Dhabi. It is a multi-stakeholder government body that interfaces between government, business, and academia to realize a sustainable, diversified, and knowledge-based economy.

TDC launched ‘Takamul in 2011 to generate economic and societal value in Abu Dhabi and the UAE by fostering the development of innovative ideas. This program supports innovation within knowledge-intensive industries, and aims to transform locally generated ideas into commercial enterprises to support economic advancement.
