Sharp Selects Bell and Howell to Provide Service and Support for Its New Sharp INTELLOS Automated Unmanned Ground Vehicle (A-UGV)

Services will include installation, remote monitoring, technical support, maintenance and repair

Sharp Robotics Business Development (SRBD), a division of Sharp Electronics Corporation (SEC), unveiled its new Sharp INTELLOS™ Automated Unmanned Ground Vehicle (A-UGV) at the ASIS International Seminar in Orlando, Florida. Following the presentation, executives at Bell and Howell announced the company has been selected as the exclusive service and support provider to customers of the Sharp INTELLOS A-UGV in perimeter-security-surveillance applications.

The Sharp INTELLOS A-UGV is a cost-effective, multi-terrain, mobile sensor platform that can capture video, audio and environmental data, while providing a visible deterrent. The data it provides can enhance outdoor surveillance, security, safety and maintenance inspections, which helps organizations meet the challenges of an ever-changing security landscape by augmenting a skilled guard force. This automated guarding system can be integrated with any sites current security infrastructure to add additional layers of monitoring and detection capabilities.
As part of the arrangement, Bell and Howell will provide a range of exclusive and additional support services for Sharp INTELLOS.
Services provided exclusively by Bell and Howell:
Tier 2 Telephone Support
Preventative and Remedial Onsite Maintenance
Remote Monitoring
Service Tracking and Reporting
Additional services available through Bell and Howell:
Site Survey
Installation
Product Refurbishment/Repair
"As we bring the Sharp INTELLOS A-UGV to market, it is critical that we have a nationwide service and support team in place to help ensure our customers are not without their critical security systems," said SRBD Vice President & Deputy General Manager Cliff Quiroga. "Bell and Howell runs a world-class service operation with excellent coverage across North America, and we are thrilled to have them as partners in this program."
Earlier this year, Bell and Howell signed on as a technology sponsor of Robolliance. Founded by SEC, Robolliance is a forum for technology organizations, as well as industry experts in robotics, surveillance and security, to advance the understanding and awareness of autonomous robotic solutions. As a founding member and technology sponsor, Bell and Howell will contribute its expertise in the installation and maintenance of sophisticated mechatronics systems to the creation and deployment of UGVs.
"We are excited to be partnering with Sharp in the launch of their INTELLOS A-UGV, which I believe is a prime example of the emerging ‘internet of people and things. UGV robots working alongside human professionals are beginning to play an increasingly important role in the protection of critical public and commercial infrastructures," said Bell and Howell CEO Ramesh Ratan. "With the introduction of the Sharp INTELLOS A-UGV for security, Sharp has clearly taken the lead in this space. We are proud to be playing a role in ensuring that the Sharp INTELLOS A-UGV systems are working as effectively as possible."
