OCP, a leading manufacturer and distributor of cables and connectivity devices, presents an array of offerings featuring the USB Type C connector. In 2013, the USB Organization presented a single connector platform model- USB 3.1 Standard, the "one cable solution." As the name suggests, this model envisions a single connecting cable between diverse implements- power, storage, keyboards, and network, among others. On the heels of this USB 3.1 Standard announcement comes the USB Type C cable, "the connector of the future."
Featuring a whopping 10 Gbps data speed and 100W current carrying potential to eliminate the need for external power supplies, the USB Type C represents a milestone step in connectivity innovation. For the less tech-minded among us, a remarkable feature of the USB Type C is its reversible/flippable design (no more turning that USB cable over three times before you can plug it in!). Over 2 billion USB Type C- based units are expected to ship in 2019, nearly realizing this vision of unified connectivity. In fact, a recent study projects that nearly half of smartphones and a stunning 93% of laptops will include USB Type-C connectivity by 2020. And Thunderbolt 3 is the fully "loaded" USB-C connector that does it all; backward compatible with USB 2.0 but also compatible up to USB 3.1 as well as carrying the DisplayPort signals. .
Alternate modes are available for a USB-type cable, but only a subset of the cables pins may be repurposed. This allows for USB Type-C to carry up to four DisplayPort lanes, which can be combined with USB 3.1 operation over the same USB Type-C cable. Options for USB Type-C cable adapters to HDMI, DVI, and VGA are also available. One step beyond these varieties, OCP has released both Industrial and Medical Grade Type C products, including IP67/68 Positive Lock USB Type C Cables (which feature OCPs trademark "Snap-in & Screw-in" system). OCP has also released "Snap-in & Screw-in" Panel Mount USB Type C connectors offer the universal connector design a clean, neat, and professional industrial package.
