ARM Track at Automate- Wednesday

ARM is pleased to participate in Automate 2019, this year's largest U.S. manufacturing and robotics show. This 2019 show includes an increased ARM presence through panels, roundtables, and an ARM specific track. Thank you to ARM Member, the Association for Advancing Automate (A3), for the opportunities outlined below.


ARM Track - Wednesday

Keep up to date with ARM progress, including project updates and more, by attending sessions in the ARM Updates track on the exhibit hall stage. ARM CTO, Arnie Kravitz, will kick off the three sessions at 1:30 with a general status update discussing ARM's progress since its formation two years ago and how this progress is changing manufacturing in the United States.

Following this, Taskin Padir, Associate Professor of Robotics at Northeastern and ARM PI, will do a deep dive on our active FISH project. This technology project brings a team of ARM Members together including Ascend Robotics, Harmonic Drive, Moog and MassRobotics, to develop a collaborative robotic system that can reliably grasp, place, flip and maneuver seafood, using existing robotic arm technology.

Our final session of the day is a panel discussion featuring the following ARM Members: Matt Robinson (ROS-Industrial Consortium Americas), Curis Richardson (Technical Fellow - Spirit Aerosystems), and Chetan Kapoor (Senior Director of Technology Innovation - Yaskawa America). Moderated by ARM CEO, Dr. Byron Clayton, our industry expert panelists will discuss methods to overcoming the challenges of increasing robotics usage in manufacturing.

Win the Future Theater - Multiple Days

ARM is building the future of manufacturing so it's no surprise that you can find our team presenting in the Win the Future Theater. On Monday from 1:00-3:00, Dr. Byron Clayton will participate in the International Federation of Robotics (IFR) CEO Roundtable. This roundtable explores the global race for leadership in robotics and AI. As ARM CEO, Dr. Clayton is tasked with asserting US leadership in robotics through project calls catalyzing needed innovations in industrial robotics.

On Tuesday from 2:00-3:00, Jay Douglass (ARM COO) will discuss the robotics ecosystem in Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh has become known as a national leader in robotics. From Carnegie Mellon University's leadership in robotics education to the city's robotics row full of innovative start-ups and national robotics leaders, the nation is looking to Pittsburgh to see what's new and next in the industry.

Then, taking on a workforce focus, Dr. Steve Catt (Deputy Director, Education & Workforce Development) will highlight ARM's work in education and workforce development (EWD). ARM's EWD focus is just as critical as our technology efforts; without correcting the workforce and skills gap, our technology advancements can't properly benefit manufacturers. This session will take place on Thursday at 10:30am. Dr. Catt will also act as the moderator for the panel following this session called Using Artificial Intelligence to Reskill the Workforce: An Insider's Guide from Education and Industry.
