UBTECH Partners with Carnegie Mellon Robotics Institute Summer Scholars to Grow the Robotics Innovators of Tomorrow

Three-Day Event Offers Learning, Collaboration, and Robot Programming Challenge

UBTECH Robotics

WHAT:

UBTECH Robotics, a global leader in intelligent humanoid robotics and AI technologies, and Carnegie Mellon's Robotics Institute Summer Scholars (RISS) program will invite about 35 RISS scholars to join a three-day summer workshop where they will learn about, build, and code Yanshee, a first-of-its-kind, open-source, humanoid robot. Yanshee combines an advanced AI interface, programmable Raspberry Pi card, and a host of sensors and functionality to create the ultimate platform for educators, students, and robot enthusiasts to learn about, research, experiment, and engage with robotics.

WHY:

Now in its third year, the workshop includes lectures on programming with the Robot Operating System (ROS), demos of UBTECH's service robots including Walker and Cruzr, and a robot programming challenge that culminates in a public demonstration of students' robot innovations.

WHEN:

July 17-19, 2019. The public demonstration is 4:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. on Friday, July 19.

WHERE:

Newell Simon Hall

The Robotics Institute

Carnegie Mellon University

Pittsburgh, PA 15213

WHO:

News media, engineers, educators, and anyone interested in robotics is invited to attend the public demonstration on Friday, July 19.

Schmalz Technology Development - The Right Gripper for Every Task

In order to interact with their environment and perform the tasks, lightweight robots, like all industrial robots, depend on tools - and in many cases these are vacuum grippers. These form the interface to the workpiece and are therefore a decisive part of the overall system. With their help, the robots can pick up, move, position, process, sort, stack and deposit a wide variety of goods and components. Vacuum gripping systems allow particularly gentle handling of workpieces, a compact and space-saving system design and gripping from above. Precisely because the object does not have to be gripped, the vacuum suction cupenables gapless positioning next to each other.
