Genesis Robotics and Motion Technologies to Showcase Latest Advances in High Performance Actuation at IREX 2019

Direct Drive Motor Technology and Gearing Solutions Enhance Productivity and Lower Total Cost of Ownership Across Robotics and Industrial Automation

Vancouver, Canada - Genesis Robotics and Motion Technologies (Genesis) announced today that it will showcase its revolutionary direct drive motor technology and innovative gearing solutions for robotic applications at the International Robot Exhibition (IREX). IREX 2019 will take place from December 18-21 at Tokyo Big Sight, Japan. Genesis' booth location is W4-33.

Since entering the market with its LiveDrive® Direct-Drive Motor (LiveDrive®), the company has continued to develop high torque, low profile form factor solutions that enhance productivity and lower total cost of ownership across robotics and industrial automation. LiveDrive® provides direct drive actuation with greater acceleration, higher speeds and increased stopping torque, thereby removing the need for traditional gear and belt transmissions, simplifying actuator design, and dramatically improving reliability.

"IREX is the largest robotics tradeshow in the world and we are excited to share our latest developments and product offerings with the robotics industry. Over the last four years, Genesis has greatly advanced the LiveDrive® product portfolio while developing next generation gearing and actuation solutions," said Chris Di Lello, CEO of Genesis. "Genesis' ability to create greater value for our customers has increased significantly through collaboration and joint development with leading robotics makers and automation integrators. We look forward to engaging further with the industry at IREX 2019."

Genesis will showcase a variety of LiveDrive® motors in a number of sizes and configurations, giving visitors the opportunity to see the reduction in size first-hand when compared to traditional motors. Genesis' portfolio represents the highest levels of performance at as little as a third of the size of existing motor technology, which can now be leveraged in axial flux and radial flux. Their custom construction also means many parameters can be optimized to a customer's unique requirements.

Genesis' revolutionary Reflex® Torque Amplifier gearing solution - a unique technology designed to deliver the same torque as conventional gearboxes at a fraction of the weight - will also be available to view. The Reflex® is made of Injection moldable high-performance plastic, reduces the weight of robot joints, and delivers a back-driveable solution for applications such as workplace robots that can be utilized in smaller businesses and commercial enterprises.

"Reducing the weight of the actuators in a robot is key to realizing a wide range of benefits," said James Klassen, Chief Technology Officer of Genesis. "The Reflex® Torque Amplifier, for example, is very lightweight and has low inertia. Because of its unique, patented design, Reflex® has higher torque density than metal gearboxes, which allows our customers to develop high-performance robots that are lighter, more manufacturable, and faster than otherwise possible. The center-output configuration allows greater design freedom to create all-new robot forms. Visitors to Genesis' booth will be able to experience its effortless back-drivability."

uEye XC AUTOMATICALLY PERFECT IMAGES

Combining the ease of use of a webcam with the performance and reliability of an industrial camera? The uEye XC autofocus camera from IDS Imaging Development Systems proves that this is possible. Its high-resolution imaging, simple setup and adaptability make it an invaluable tool for improving quality control and streamlining workflows in industrial settings - especially for cases where users would normally employ a webcam. The uEye XC autofocus camera features a 13 MP onsemi sensor and supports two different protocols: USB3 Vision, which enables programmability and customization, and UVC (USB Video Class). The UVC functionality enables a single cable connection for easy setup and commissioning, while delivering high-resolution images and video. This makes the uEye XC camera an ideal option for applications that require quick setup and need to manage variable object distances. Additional features such as digital zoom, automatic white balance and color correction ensure precise detail capture, which is essential for quality control.
