VISION Start-up World: Springboard for young innovators

Major interest in support programmes for young companies / Start-ups showcasing ground-breaking new developments in machine vision technology

More than 450 exhibiting companies, a 20 percent increase in exhibitors and a 15 percent increase in exhibition space compared to the previous event, along with the highest share of international companies in the history of this leading international trade fair: VISION 2024 is making excellent progress and providing the 30 plus start-ups and industry newcomers with the best possible conditions for comprehensive industry networking, as well as both national and international success. For the third time already, the Start-up World will be hosting up-and-coming companies in their own area at VISION, where they have the opportunity to present their latest developments and ideas to potential customers and business partners - ideas and developments involving state-of-the-art camera technology, software for artificial intelligence and deep learning, as well as ground-breaking machine vision systems.

"We'll be presenting a new solution for real-time image processing that boasts impressive speed and precision. The USP is seamless integration into existing systems, facilitating the design of production processes that are more efficient and cost-effective," explains Alexandra Schmidt, Managing Partner of Mobile Vision Technology GmbH in Brandenburg, Germany. "Our solution uses commercial hardware such as mobile phones and computes directly ‘on the edge' - leading to superb improvements in speed and a reduction in the complexity of the system. VISION is an important platform for us, as we have the opportunity here to explore the latest trends in machine vision while making valuable contacts."
Start-ups are challenged and supported
Young companies will once again be given the chance in 2024 to raise their profile and position themselves against the competition by participating in the Pitch Sessions, which will be held on the Forum stage as part of the VISION Start-up World. The ‘Start-up of the Day' will be selected at the end of each trade fair day, with the ‘VISION Start-up 2024' then crowned by a jury on the last day of the event.
Ten young German innovators involved in the area of machine vision technology have been given a special opportunity to internationalise their businesses and networks. They have been chosen to participate in the "Young Innovators" joint stand sponsored by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK).
Intensive preparation, ground-breaking technologies: Exhibitor feedback
Many start-ups have worked long and hard to prepare for their trade fair visit and the presentation of their products and solutions at VISION. One such company is PxE Holographic Imaging from Israel. "After years of development, we are now ready to bring our holographic imaging technology into the market," Noga Barpal, Vice President Business Development, enthuses. "It makes it possible to acquire natively-fused high-resolution colour images, infrared images and pixel-level depth maps, all at once using a single, standard 2D camera. By achieving full perception in a single module, PxE offers a superior backbone for machine vision, without any compromises and at the price point of a standard 2D camera."
Belgian start-up Spectricity is also introducing an exciting new idea at the trade fair. Henrik Andersen, Chief Marketing Officer, describes the technology: "We will present S1, our multispectral image (MSI) sensor with our patented filter technology and the corresponding camera modules S1-M. S1 is the world's first truly miniaturized, mass-manufacturable mobile spectral image sensor featuring 16-channel high-resolution imaging, covering the full visible and near-infrared range with video rates of 30 fps. The sensor unlocks a wealth of applications that was previously reserved for high-end equipment."
High technology from the Netherlands, involving x-ray sensors based on quantum dots, will also be coming to VISION and presented by start-up QDI Systems. "We developed a quantum dot platform technology for image sensors. The material is solution-processable, and very versatile in terms of application possibilities in various sectors such as medical imaging, machine vision, security, inspection and non-destructive material testing. At Vision we will exhibit our SWIR and X-ray camera module and show our business partners our future wafer level processing plans," explains Juul Gielens, Chief Business Officer at QDI Systems. "We are very excited to present our technology and our company to the specialist public and the leading companies in the industry. VISION as the world's leading exhibition in the sector provides the perfect setting for this."
VISION is also an important event for Medabsy, the Bavarian experts for synthetic data and the simulation of machine vision systems. "We're looking forward to making many new contacts at VISION, particularly with decision-makers involved in the planning and implementation of inspection systems, so that we can better understand their needs and the market of industrial image processing," says Maximilian Grau, co-founder and managing director of Medabsy. "We will be presenting our innovative platform and demonstrating how quickly and easily inspection systems are planned using digital twins and how synthetic images are created as training data for AI applications before the hardware is available. Project times and costs will be considerably reduced as a result, particularly during the commissioning of inspection systems."
