Rollon launches new Cobot Transfer Unit (CTU) for enhanced performance and seamless integration
Rollon announces the launch of a new Cobot Transfer Unit (CTU), which brings improved delivery times, enhanced compatibility, and optimized performance.
March 26, 2025. Rollon, a global leader in linear motion solutions, announces the launch of its new Cobot Transfer Unit (CTU), designed to push the boundaries of collaborative robot applications. With a series of key enhancements, the latest CTU model offers improved flexibility, easier integration, and increased performance, making it the ideal solution for automation processes requiring extended reach.
What's new
The new CTU introduces a range of updates aimed at simplifying installation and maximizing efficiency. A transition to a new motor helps ensure reduced lead times, as it is readily available in stock. Additionally, the adoption of a 220V power supply-matching the voltage of Universal Robots-eliminates the need for industrial voltage, simplifying integration and reducing electrical complexities.
The revised match between CTU and robot sizes improves compatibility, now supporting the entire Universal Robots range, including the UR20 and UR30. The integration of the R-Smart actuator further enhances system stiffness and load capacity, helping ensure higher reliability in automation environments.
"Our latest CTU reflects Rollon's commitment to continuous innovation and customer-driven design," says Andrea Tosi, VP Technology at Rollon. "By optimizing the system architecture, we have created a solution that delivers seamless integration with Universal Robots, greater flexibility, and improved efficiency. With this launch, we are empowering manufacturers with a robust, plug-and-play motion solution that extends the capabilities of cobots like never before."
Plug-and-play solution for seamless integration
Rollon's CTU is a turnkey system that includes an actuator, a gearbox, motor, electrical cabinet, and Rollon's URCap software, allowing intuitive programming directly from the Universal Robots teach pendant. This enables users to control both the robot and the transfer unit through the same interface, eliminating the need for additional programming expertise.
With a steel-reinforced belt drive, extruded aluminium profile, and recirculating ball guides, the CTU offers high stiffness, lightweight construction, and strokes of up to 5500 mm, with extensions available upon request. The system also features various accessories for smooth integration, making it easy for customers to tailor the setup to their specific requirements.
Ideal for various applications
Designed for tasks such as light material handling, assembly, pick-and-place, and packaging, CTU's compact design, easy installation, and flexible horizontal or vertical mounting support adaptability across diverse automation environments.
With these advancements, Rollon continues to set new standards in linear motion solutions, providing manufacturers with cutting-edge automation technology.

Since 2018, Rollon has been a part of The Timken Company, representing the linear motion unit within the Industrial Motion segment of Timken. Rollon's solutions are globally adopted in industrial automation, aerospace, medical equipment, material handling, and other sectors where product performance, efficiency and reliability are essential. With the acquisition by The Timken Company of Nadella, Chiavette Unificate, Durbal, Shuton-Ipiranga, and Rosa Sistemi, Rollon is now able to offer its customers an even more comprehensive product range - from linear components, actuators and systems to ball screws and rotational units.
Featured Product
Nion: Next-level time-of-flight
The new Nion 3D camera advances Time-of-Flight (ToF) technology with exceptional resolution, speed, and industrial robustness. Designed for demanding applications such as logistics, warehousing, industrial automation, and robotics, Nion delivers high-resolution depth data with real-time performance for faster, safer, and more flexible operations. At its core is the 1.2-megapixel Time-of-Flight sensor AF0130 from onsemi's Hyperlux ID family, offering up to four times the resolution of conventional VGA-based ToF cameras and significantly higher data density. Active 940-nm laser illumination ensures accurate and stable measurements in low-light conditions, artificial lighting, and even direct sunlight. With an IP67-rated housing, Nion is built for reliable operation in dusty, wet, and thermally challenging industrial environments. A user-friendly API with IDS peak support and compliance with the GigE Vision standard enable fast integration and flexible deployment in high-resolution 3D applications. The Nion 3D camera is now available from IDS Imaging Development Systems.
