DENSO Robotics Presents New Robot for Sterile Environments at the Automatica 2014

This robot is specially suited for the pharmaceutical and medical industries / Access to the ORiN-network gives customers high flexibility and makes it easier to integrate the robots into the production process.

At this year's Automatica 2014, DENSO Robotics will present how easy and flexible their robots can be

integrated into production processes by giving several demonstrations and showing simulations.
Additionally, the world-leading manufacturer of compact robots will introduce a new robot that is
specially adjusted to sterile work environments, and is ideally suited for the pharmaceutical and food
industries. The new robot has a special surface that is H2O2 and UV resistant, with completely internal
wiring that goes up to the robot flange. It also features an innovative design with round corners, so no residue can accumulate in corners of the machines. DENSO Robotics will present the new robot in hall B4 at booth number 314 at the Munich fairgrounds. The Automatica is the leading trade-fair for automation, and takes place from the 3rd to the 6th of June 2014.

food industries offer excellent growth possibilities for robot manufacturers. These sectors often operate
in sterile work environments that have special requirements for robots. Our new model will further
strengthen our market position in those segments by intelligently supplementing our portfolio of four
and six-axis robots", Jürgen Küch, Senior Manager Europe at DENSO Robotics, explains. The new
robot complies with the strict guidelines that are needed in the pharmaceutical and food industries. It is resistant to aggressive cleaning agents and UV light. The screws are not visible from the outside, so that no bacteria can collect around them. Küch: "The robot is perfectly suited for several tasks such as sorting, portioning, processing and packing."

The robots are easy to program

DENSO Robotics' second focus at the Automatica is how easy their robots can be programmed. The company will offer demonstrations about how equipment like cameras, grabbers, sensors, conveyor belts and delivery systems can be controlled at the same time and how they can be coordinated. This is made possible by accessing the ORiN-network (Open Robot/Resource interface for the Network), which is already installed in the showcase controller RC8. It enables companies to program different hardware applications directly through the controls by using the in-house programming language PacScript. It is also possible to control an entire production line using programming languages such as C# or C++ on a PC. There will also be a demonstration at the DENSO booth on how to program a production line by using I/O slave. ORiN ensures that the RC8 controller is compatible with around 80 percent of all network cards that are used worldwide.

"By using different ways of programming we will show how easy, flexible and extensible our products
are", Küch says. "This means that our customers do not need to learn another programming language.
This makes it easier for them to use our robots and to adapt them to their special needs. That is why
