Optomec Announces Record System Orders for Its Industrial 3D Printers

100% Growth in Year to Date Bookings

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.--Optomec, a leading global supplier of production grade additive manufacturing systems for 3D printed metals and printed electronics, today announced it more than doubled its order bookings through the first three quarters of 2014.

In the third quarter specifically, Optomec received a record amount of system orders, securing more than 10 new customers for its high-end 3D printers. This includes both LENS 3D printers used for the repair and fabrication of metal components, and Aerosol Jet systems used for 3D printed electronics. The majority of the bookings were from industrial customers that will use Optomec printers for production applications. More than half of the sales came from U.S. customers, with the remainder divided evenly between Europe and Asia.

"Our success in the third quarter continues the strong momentum we have enjoyed throughout this year, in which all tolled we have generated system orders from more than 25 new customers, many of whom intend to expand their installations as they move into higher volume production," said Dave Ramahi, President and CEO of Optomec. "We are well on track to meet our goal of 100% growth in orders in 2014, and are likewise pleased to see Optomec users reinforcing the fact that 3D printing can bring tangible value and benefits in real production applications, well beyond research and prototyping."

In addition to strong overall sales performance in the third quarter, notable strategic developments include the addition of a new Aerosol Jet account focused on high volume production of 3D Printed Antenna for Smartphones, bringing our penetration in this market up to five customers, and a new industrial customer that will use LENS in production for 3D Printed metal coatings.

Additionally, Optomec saw the successful production launch of its 3D Printed Sensor solution for Industrial Internet applications, and made its first deliveries of the new LENS Print Engine product, which is a modular solution enabling the integration of 3D Printing of Metals within a conventional CNC machine tool platform.

The ERT150 - Dorner's Next Evolution of Edge Roller Technology Conveyors

The next evolution in Dorner's Edge Roller Technology conveyor platform, the ERT®150, is ideal for small and light-load assembly automation, as well as medical and medical-device assembly application. The ERT platform is the only pallet conveyor of its kind available with an ISO Standard Class 4 rating for cleanroom applications. Earning the ISO Standard 14644-1 Class 4 rating means Dorner's ERT150 will conform and not contribute to the contamination of cleanrooms to those standards. As implied by its name, the ERT150 (Edge Roller Technology) uses rollers to move pallets through the conveyor smoothly with no friction (a byproduct often seen in belt-driven platforms). The conveyor's open design eliminates concerns of small parts or screws dropping into rollers and causing conveyor damage or jamming. The ERT150 is suited to operate in cleanroom environments requiring a pallet handling conveyor. It is capable of zoning for no or low-back pressure accumulation and is ideal for automation assembly applications within industries including medical devices, electronics, consumer goods among others.
