A TraceParts employee never gives up

One of TraceParts' collaborators on the finishing line of a 21.5km open water swimming

Amberg, Germany, April 22, 2015 - TraceParts is extremly proud to announce that Christian Hartmann-Herrmann, Project Coordinator at TraceParts, recently managed to fulfill his dream. Christian swam from Rødby in Denmark to Puttgarden on the German island of Fehmarn in 6 hours and 19 minutes. Only 18 people had ever swum across the 21.5km of sea separating the two towns. Christian is now the 6th fastest in the all-time rankings.

The Fehmarn Belt strait was Christian Hartmann-Herrmann's 53rd long distance swim .
"You reach a point where it gets more difficult to set new objectives, because there are not many routes left to attempt," says Christian, who lives in Amberg.

"I am also really lucky in that my employer TraceParts has always actively supported me and even acted as a sponsor. This is even more important when something does not going according to plan. After all, we are not talking about swimming back and forth in a heated swimming pool."

In 2008, Christian swam across the straits of Gibraltar. His exceptional performances pushed him to attempt the Fehmarn Belt strait, which is even more demanding. He was forced to abandon close to the finishing line on two attempts, in 2009 and 2012. We reported the stories at the time:

The first time, he was forced to stop due to a spectacular deterioration in the weather, and the second time because of a huge blanket of toxic algae. "As in my job, such projects mean taking many parameters into consideration. In addition to the weather, the wind, the currents, the cold water temperature and cramp, you can also encounter different sea creatures."

This time, exhausted and having already encountered a shoal of jellyfish, the 48-year old saved the best for last: "Two kilometres from the German coast, my son Vincent decided to come and support me and to swim the last stage with me. From that moment, I knew that this time I would make it, and that I didn't need to take one last break. We virtually flew to Puttgarden."

"If I can motivate myself once more, I will attempt the 32 kilometre swim across the Channel," he says, adding a great incentive: "That would mean I had done the triple."

Let's go Christian…

uEye XC AUTOMATICALLY PERFECT IMAGES

Combining the ease of use of a webcam with the performance and reliability of an industrial camera? The uEye XC autofocus camera from IDS Imaging Development Systems proves that this is possible. Its high-resolution imaging, simple setup and adaptability make it an invaluable tool for improving quality control and streamlining workflows in industrial settings - especially for cases where users would normally employ a webcam. The uEye XC autofocus camera features a 13 MP onsemi sensor and supports two different protocols: USB3 Vision, which enables programmability and customization, and UVC (USB Video Class). The UVC functionality enables a single cable connection for easy setup and commissioning, while delivering high-resolution images and video. This makes the uEye XC camera an ideal option for applications that require quick setup and need to manage variable object distances. Additional features such as digital zoom, automatic white balance and color correction ensure precise detail capture, which is essential for quality control.
