New BOA2 Vision System Offers Greater Accuracy and Detects Smaller Defects
Now with more pixels, power and integration flexibility for automating parts and assembly inspection.
Waterloo, Ontario - May 26, 2015 - Teledyne DALSA, a Teledyne Technologies company and global leader in machine vision components and solutions, announced today its next generation BOA2 Smart Camera featuring higher resolution imaging, dual-core processing and embedded iNspect Express application software. The BOA2 smart camera is a complete vision system with more pixels, power and integration flexibility for automating parts and assembly inspection.
"Our new BOA2 vision system is built around the industrys most advanced image sensor technology, allowing it to capture defects that are difficult to resolve or lost with lower resolution imagers," said Steve Geraghty, Vice-President, Industrial Vision Solutions at Teledyne DALSA. "Online inspection tasks are easily configured with our expanded iNspect Express user interface, allowing manufacturers to ensure production quality, minimize product recalls and reduce costs."
BOA2 is offered with 2, 3 or 5M pixel resolution. For very high speed applications, the CMOS sensor format can be changed to achieve inspection rates of up to 80 parts per second. The 2M model supports an optional integrated LED ring light with built-in collimators that provide powerful, uniform lighting across the inspection area. The sensor supports standard C mount lenses which, together with the optional LED light, can be enclosed within a protective cover to safeguard against accidental damage or tampering. The BOA2 is rated for use in harsh industrial environments and provides several mounting options on the front, back and side surfaces.
At the heart of BOA2 is a high performance, 1.5 GHz dual core processing engine for executing user configured solutions. System memory resources include 2 GB bytes of solution storage and 1 GB of program memory. The embedded iNspect Express application software supports standard factory protocols, such as EthernetIP, Profinet and Modbus for interfacing with complementary factory products and control networks. The physical interfaces include Gigabit Ethernet, RS-232 serial, opto-isolated inputs and outputs, all of which can be connected using standard M12 factory cables. A DIN mountable breakout module is offered to simplify control panel wiring.
