Industrial Wi-Fi Harnesses Big Data and Video Transmission

NEXCOM's latest access point offers a stable and reliable Wi-Fi architecture, which optimizes operational efficiency, security, and safety of plants.

NEXCOM's latest industrial Wi-Fi, IWF 503 series, adopts 802.11ac technology to harness big data and video transmission. With connected machines, demands for real-time management data, and live video feeds on the rise around the factory, the IP55-rated outdoor access point (AP) features up to 27dBm transmit power, and point-to-point (P2P), point-to-multipoint (P2MP) connections to deliver a stable and reliable Wi-Fi architecture, thus optimizing operational efficiency, security, and safety of plants.

The IWF 503 series helps build a fast and vast outdoor Wi-Fi backhaul with data rate up to 1.3Gbps. Increased bandwidth opens up new applications such as video surveillance. With the assistance of IWF 503 series, factory managers can instantly monitor equipment, assets, stocks, production line, and rural sites beyond the factory roof, thus improving manufacturing security and safety.

Considering the difficulty to install wired networks among outdoor areas of industrial facilities, the IWF 503 series features P2P and P2MP connections, which provide a scalable industrial Wi-Fi infrastructure to support multiple concurrent network-based applications, such as remote monitoring among checkweighers and surveillance cameras with no need for cables running along the factory floor. In addition, equipped with 24V PoE supply, the IWF 503 series not only avoids the need to deploy a dedicated wired network but also additional infrastructure cost.

Designed to effectively achieve reliable industrial Wi-Fi coverage in dispersed sites with different weather conditions including wind, rain, and snow, the IWF 503 series features up to 27dBm transmit power at 5GHz and IP55 protection. The IWF 503 features built-in 10dBi directional antennas while the IWF 503D supports user's choice of external antennas. Stronger signal delivers reliable quality and longer transmitting distance. Wide temperature durability from -35 to 75 degrees Celsius ensures factory managers and workers alike are able to access critical information all year long.
