The Space Frontier Foundations NewSpace Business Plan Competition (BPC), which awards seed money, is holding the first two of five total regional, qualifying competitions for the 2015/2016 competition cycle. The cities will each host a Shark Tank-style event whose winners will advance to the national competition in Seattle. Partners of the BPC include the Space Angels Network, OrbitalATK, Heinlein Prize Trust and the Space Finance Group.

NewSpace NYC and LightSpeed Innovations Accelerator are the New York and Los Angeles regional partners, respectively. Applicants may use the Decision Desk platform to submit entries. Applications for the Los Angeles regional competition will be accepted from October 15th, 2015 through November 15th, 2015. The finalist will be announced no later than November 23rd, 2015.

"If you have a technology or capability that could be used in space, you should enter", said Tom Olson, BPC Project Manager. "We are looking for "Space Scalable" solutions - not just satellites or space networks or space ships, though all those are welcome too! By providing a combination of education, investor feedback and seed money, the NewSpace BPC is enabling the rapid growth of the most exciting industry in human history."

FAULHABER MICROMO - Impressive accuracy through the latest chip technology

With the launch of the IEP3, FAULHABER expands its product line with an incremental encoder which, thanks to the latest chip technology, achieves a very high resolution and accuracy. With a diameter of just 8 mm, the IEP3 is very lightweight and compact yet still offers a resolution of up to 10,000 lines per revolution - made possible by the latest chip technology with high interpolation. In the standard version, the resolution is freely programmable from 1 - 4,096 lines per revolution. Moreover, the chip technology that is used ensures a high positional accuracy of typically 0.3 °m as well as a high repeatability of typically 0.05 °m thanks to accuracy compensation.
