SoftIntegration Releases C/C++ Interpreter Ch 7.5.1 for Learning Coding, Math, and Robotics

Ch is also an embeddable cross-platform scripting engine and can be embedded in other applications for scripting.

DAVIS, Calif., Dec. 2, 2015 -- SoftIntegration, Inc. today announced the availability of Ch 7.5.1 and Embedded Ch 7.5.1. Ch is the most complete cross-platform C/C++ interpreter. Ch is also an embeddable cross-platform scripting engine and can be embedded in other applications for scripting. Ch version 7.5.1 is a major release with many new features to make Ch especially appealing for beginners in elementary schools, middle schools, high schools, as well as colleges to learn coding, math, and robotics.

Many new features are introduced to support UC Davis C-STEM Studio --- a platform for teaching science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) through computing and robotics. Ch has also been updated to support RoboBlockly --- a web-based robot Integrated Development Environment (IDE) to program Lego Mindstorms NXT/EV3 and Barobo Linkbot for students to learn coding, math, and robotics. RoboBlockly includes the curriculum for an Hour of Code, robotics, coding, and mathematics for students in grades 4 to 12. The generated Ch code from RoboBlockly can readily run in Ch to control hardware or virtual robots. In addition, Ch supports Arduino and the same C/C++ code can run in both ChIDE and Arduino IDE without modification.

Teachers and students find Ch one of the best tools for their teaching and learning coding, math, and robotics. "Ch is a very effective tool to introduce coding to my students with no programming experience. They can pick it up quickly in learning one of the industry's standard programming languages," said Clay Dagler, Math Teacher in Luther Burbank High School in Sacramento, CA. "Using Ch in my high school math class develops students' critical thinking skills, because they spend less time doing tedious calculations and more time diving deeper into the math concepts."

"Working with higher education researchers, K-12 partners, and our industrial collaborators, we have developed Ch as a premier platform for beginners to learn coding, math, and robotics. Working together, we can better prepare students ready for colleges and careers in STEM fields," said SoftIntegration's President Dawn Cheng. "By keeping offering free Ch Student Edition, we are dedicated to support students to achieve their goals."

Pricing and Availability

Ch and Embedded Ch for Windows, Linux, Mac OS X, Solaris sparc, Solaris X64, HP-UX, FreeBSD and QNX Neutrino RTOS are available. Ch Standard Edition is free for both commercial and non-commercial uses in all platforms. Ch Student Edition is free for the students to use. US Digital's New L2 Low Profile Motor Encoder

US Digital's New L2 Low Profile Motor Encoder

The L2 incremental encoder uses US Digital's proven EM1 optical encoder module and disk, which has billions of device-hours of dependable service in customer applications. This product continues US Digital's strong reputation for reliable, field-tested encoders. The L2 is US Digital's lowest height encoder that uses the EM1 module. It has a 0.75 in. bolt-spacing mount. The maximum resolution is 1250 CPR (5000 PPR with quadrature). The L2 comes with a single-ended output. Another benefit of the L2 incremental encoder is its fast installation. The cover snaps onto the base to secure the module. It is designed for use with a high-retention connector or cable (sold separately). Like all US Digital products, the L2 is designed and manufactured in Vancouver, Washington, USA. It is backed by prompt access to our technical and customer service teams with same-day shipping on most orders.
