Fellow, Inc. Using NVIDIA Jetson For Robotic Applications In Inventory Management

Fellow is using computer vision algorithms to break down what the shelves look like and what's on them. Through machine learning and neural networks, Fellow's robot can better understand everything that's inside the store to simplify the inventory process.

SAN JOSE, Calif., March 7, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Fellow, Inc., a privately held Silicon Valley robotics company focused on solving retailers' biggest inventory management problems, today announced that its NAVii™ robot is using the NVIDIA Jetson supercomputer on a module.

Fellow's robots will be deployed to Lowe's stores in the Bay Area, California and branded the LoweBot. It has cameras and a host of other sensors to go down aisles, scan shelves and quickly tell stores what's out of stock. With NVIDIA Jetson, Fellow is using computer vision algorithms to break down what the shelves look like and what's on them. Through machine learning and neural networks, Fellow's robot can better understand everything that's inside the store to simplify the inventory process.

At an NVIDIA press event in San Francisco, Fellow showcased its robot and how it is able to navigate through stores to collect inventory data and help store employees by checking current inventory and delivering consistent and accurate inventory insights.

"We're excited to be working with NVIDIA to shape the future of robotics together," said Marco Mascorro, CEO and Co-Founder of Fellow, Inc. "NVIDIA Jetson is a game changer because it enables us to do AI on the edge since we're processing things in real-time on the floor instead of having to do everything in the cloud."

"NVIDIA Jetson is the ideal platform for robotics and Fellow's use of our advanced AI technology is transforming inventory management, so shelves are stocked and more quality time can be spent with customers," said Murali Gopalakrishna, head of Product Management, Intelligent Machines at NVIDIA.
