Algolux Named AutoSens Awards 2018 Winner for Software Innovation

Algolux was recognized as the winner of the Software Innovation Award for 2018 for their novel artificial intelligence technology for autonomous vision, optimizing imaging and computer vision systems to see and perceive significantly better than current state of the art approaches.

At the ceremony held in one of the iconic spheres of the Atomium in Brussels on September 19th 2018, professionals from the automotive industrys most accomplished organizations and new entrants gathered to celebrate the winners of the AutoSens Award. Part of the international AutoSens vehicle perception conference and exhibition, the Awards, now in their second year, acknowledges innovation with the most impact and were judged by a world-class panel drawn from OEMs, Tier 1s and Tier 2s, industry organizations and academia to assure a robust evaluation.

Algolux was recognized as the winner of the Software Innovation Award for 2018 for their novel artificial intelligence technology for autonomous vision, optimizing imaging and computer vision systems to see and perceive significantly better than current state of the art approaches. At the conference, Algolux showcased their Camera-Aware Neural Architecture (CANA) deep neural network stack, delivering robust perception in difficult scenarios such as low light, rain, and snow to help improve vehicle safety, and CRISP-ML, a machine learning workflow tool that automates and optimizes the lengthy manual process of tuning cameras for image quality through objective metrics. Algolux also announced at the conference the latest release of CRISP-ML and new technology, NaturalIQ, that automates the subjective tuning of cameras (See Figure 1).

Algolux Selected from a Large Number of Nominees.

Robert Stead, Managing Director of Sense Media Group, Director of the AutoSens Awards was delighted with the event: "Nominations almost doubled compared to last years event, so it was difficult to determine the shortlist. But we are thrilled by the winners list of trail-blazers driving the innovation of vehicle perception systems. In addition to acknowledging individual and corporate technical innovation, the AutoSens Awards also recognize academic achievement and educational programs, an important aspect of this industry as we strive to inspire and equip the next generation of engineers."

On the positive result for Algolux he said "One of the greatest challenges to deploying an imaging or perception system is the constraints of current tuning methodologies or even a camera systems architecture. A key reason Algolux was recognized by this award is the impact their groundbreaking machine learning innovations can have to reduce this challenge. We'll watch their progress with interest as the company grows and their reputation continues to spread, but it gives me great pleasure to highlight the work of a young and exciting new company."

Feedback from the judging panel added: "The judging panel congratulates Algolux on their dedication to using advanced neural networks and machine learning solutions to improve automotive vision. As with all startups, their journey is expected to make a significant impact to the automotive industry as the company grows. The panel were excited to be able to reward Algolux with the Software Innovation trophy after having won the Most Exciting Start-Up Award in 2017."

"AutoSens is one of the premier events for automotive imaging and perception technologies, which makes this award for Software Innovation all the more satisfying", said Allan Benchetrit, Algolux President and CEO. "This recognition reinforces the value that Algolux provides in helping improve safety and robustness for automotive vision, and provides us with additional motivation to continue to innovate in this sector."
