RAI INDUSTRY SHOWCASE SHAPING UP TO BE THE BIGGEST EVENT IN UK ROBOTICS & AI

The 2021 Robotics & AI Showcase, 25 - 27 May, has more than 70 exhibitors booked in and over 800 visitors registered to attend and counting, making it the biggest robotics and AI events of the year.

The online conference, organised by KTN, has seen an enormous surge in visitor sign ups since the programme was announced, It includes expert talks on all the latest innovations in industrial robotics and AI from sectors ranging from cancer treatments and vertical crop growing, to nuclear operations and decommissioning, and in-orbit space operations.

Marie Emerson, Robotics Knowledge Transfer Manager at KTN, says: "It's overwhelming to see the response to the 2021 RAI Industry Showcase. Hundreds of delegates will be joining us from all sectors of UK industry to learn about the latest innovations in robotics and AI, meet potential partners and suppliers and potentially revolutionise their businesses. Meanwhile our 70 exhibitors will have the opportunity to showcase their innovative work and meet potential collaborators, customers and funding partners. As well being a platform to share ideas, the Showcase is also an unmissable networking opportunity.

"The UK's adoption of robotics and AI represents a huge economic opportunity, and the RAI Industry Showcase plays a critical role in bringing all parties together and accelerating that. That's why I'm so thrilled that it's shaping up to be our biggest Showcase yet!"

The RAI Industry Showcase has a strong track record in driving innovation. Talking about the last showcase in 2019, Dave Swan, CTO at Tharsus, said:

"The whole community came together, a combination of end users and technology providers, that matched beautifully with our purpose in life which is to sit at that nexus of challenge and technology and make it happen. The event really built our brand awareness, we got to speak to all the people that are influential in the sector and introduce ourselves to potential end users, I got the opportunity to talk and share some of our lessons and some of our approaches - you don't normally get the opportunity to do that to that type of group."

It also supports collaboration as Fiona Reed, Partnership Development Manager at Loughborough University elaborates:

"We have a lot of academics working in different areas of robotics and AI at our university and they often come to me looking for collaborative partners that they can work with on their research. I often refer them to KTN as a great place to start to meet potential partners, and events like the Robotics & AI Industry Showcase is a great chance for them to come along, meet companies that are looking for academic research to help solve their problems. It helps to build up the university's research and results in something that could be of commercial value to the UK in the long run."

James Kell, Innovation Specialist at Rolls Royce agrees:

"I really like attending the Robotics & AI Industry Showcase because it's the kind of platform that allows me to clearly articulate some of the industry problems we are having in a relatively safe space, but also allows me to access a range of highly skilled and interesting types of organisations and people with which to maybe start new collaborations with."
