RENTON, WA September 2012 - Microscan, a global technology leader in barcode, machine vision and lighting solutions, announces that it will demonstrate its traceability and inspection technologies to help manufacturers achieve compliance with the FDA's new UDI Initiative at the 2012 UDI Conference, September 18-19.

Led by the FDA, the UDI Conference is an industry gathering that connects medical device manufacturers and healthcare professionals with solution providers whose products promote compliance with the new UDI (Unique Device Identification) Regulation. This mandatory regulation will establish a single device identification system that is consistent and nationally standardized to regulate medical device manufacturing. Most medical devices distributed in the United States will soon be required to carry a unique device identifier (UDI) in numeric or alphanumeric format to aid in the identification of product errors and target recalls for improved patient safety.

A member of the Association for Automatic Identification and Mobility (AIM) and a newly inducted GS1 Solutions Partner, Microscan is a provider of automatic identification and inspection technologies. Microscan has over 30 years experience providing precision data tracking and traceability technology and has been a leading innovator of solutions for the life sciences since the company's establishment. Microscan's product portfolio includes barcode readers with aggressive X-mode decode algorithms to ensure traceability for any labeled or marked part, including hard-to-read direct part marks. Microscan also offers machine vision software and hardware for real-time error prevention and process control, featuring powerful OCR (Optical Character Recognition) and OCV (Optical Character Verification) tools, for decoding and verifying the legibility of alphanumeric text.
Microscan will showcase its barcode and machine vision technology at the 2012 UDI Conference from booth #15 at the Omni Orlando Resort at Championsgate in Orlando, FL. For more information about Microscan, register for this industry event at www.udiconference.com or visit www.microscan.com.
