Piab updates its piCOMPACT range

Amazing uptime with the world's fastest integrated controls ejector

Hingham, MA - Piab updates its piCOMPACTâ„¢ range, the first manifold-mounted and functional ejector system on the market based on the energy-efficient COAX® technology. By working at low feed pressure and maximizing the utilization rate of the compressed air, the COAX® ejectors reduce energy consumption for manufacturers while increasing productivity and reliability. Products in the piCOMPACTâ„¢ range are ideal for pick-and-place operations where efficient handling of small, heavy parts is crucial, common for electronics, semiconductor, plastics, metal, small packaging, pick and place, robotic integration and the wood industry.

Piab updates its piCOMPACTâ„¢ range

Using Piab's unique COAX® cartridges, the world's smallest multistage vacuum ejector, the piCOMPACTâ„¢ range provides three times more vacuum flow than similar products. This reduces energy consumption by 30-50 percent compared with traditional ejectors, resulting in substantial sustainability benefits as well as energy and cost savings. By offering an increased vacuum flow, piCOMPACTâ„¢ ejectors strengthen product grip to increase pickup speed, minimize product damage and reduce waste. piCOMPACTâ„¢ also allows faster release of products from the suction cups onto the production line for efficiency gains.

The intelligent Energy-Saving (ES) function effectively turns off the compressed air usage when set vacuum level is achieved. An additional feature connected to the ES function, ACM, eliminates the issue of "motor-boating", where the vacuum generator cycles on and off repeatedly in case of leakage. ACM automatically senses if ES is needed or not. It can also be used for monitoring when it is time to replace worn out suction cups. With integrated direct operating bullet valves for on/off and blow-off as part of the complete piCOMPACTâ„¢ package, reliability, uptime and speed of operation can be ensured. piCOMPACTâ„¢'s user-friendly signal and energy saving setting means there are no risks for any mistakes in setting parameters for efficient vacuum operation.

Products in the updated piCOMPACTâ„¢ range are smaller and lighter than conventional ejectors, reducing the total weight of vacuum handling systems. This innovative design allows vacuum systems to move more quickly to increase production capacity.

"Vacuum ejectors today are essential components for an uncounted number of general manufacturing and automation applications across a wide range of industries, with hundreds of specific product requirements. Across the board, manufacturers are seeking improved performance together with reduced total cost of ownership while always considering their impact on the environment," said Häla El Sheemy Washbrook, Vice President Marketing and Communication, Piab. "Energy consumption is a key consideration for manufacturers when looking to reduce costs of a complete vacuum system. Working at low pressures with efficient COAX® technology, the piCOMPACTâ„¢ range increases productivity for small product handling applications, saving money and reducing a manufacturers' carbon footprint."

The piCOMPACTâ„¢ vacuum ejectors are available in a broad selection to fit with a variety of systems, including those that require very low feed pressure or extra deep vacuum levels. In addition, the compact ejectors can be easily integrated into existing production lines with no modifications required, and can be quickly configured to meet individual manufacturing needs.

About Piab
Established in 1951, Piab designs innovative vacuum solutions that improve the energy-efficiency, productivity, and working environments of vacuum users around the world. As a reliable partner to many of the world's largest manufacturers, Piab develops and manufactures a complete line of vacuum pumps, vacuum accessories, vacuum conveyors and suction cups for a variety of automated material handling and factory automation processes. Piab utilizes COAX®, a completely new dimension in vacuum technology, in many of its original products and solutions. COAX® cartridges are smaller, more energy efficient and more reliable than conventional ejectors, and can be integrated directly into machinery. This allows for the design of a flexible, modular vacuum system. Piab is a worldwide organization with subsidiaries and distributors in more than 50 countries. Its headquarters are in Sweden.

3D Vision: Ensenso B now also available as a mono version!

This compact 3D camera series combines a very short working distance, a large field of view and a high depth of field - perfect for bin picking applications. With its ability to capture multiple objects over a large area, it can help robots empty containers more efficiently. Now available from IDS Imaging Development Systems. In the color version of the Ensenso B, the stereo system is equipped with two RGB image sensors. This saves additional sensors and reduces installation space and hardware costs. Now, you can also choose your model to be equipped with two 5 MP mono sensors, achieving impressively high spatial precision. With enhanced sharpness and accuracy, you can tackle applications where absolute precision is essential. The great strength of the Ensenso B lies in the very precise detection of objects at close range. It offers a wide field of view and an impressively high depth of field. This means that the area in which an object is in focus is unusually large. At a distance of 30 centimetres between the camera and the object, the Z-accuracy is approx. 0.1 millimetres. The maximum working distance is 2 meters. This 3D camera series complies with protection class IP65/67 and is ideal for use in industrial environments.
